You state you have 6 years experience yet you’ve only joined GitHub in June 2018. Experience is worthless. I started java and python over 2 years ago and I still am clueless. What is valuable to put forward is previous completed projects.
2 years is not a very long time my friend. Have you thought that maybe I possibly have made a new github account since then?
If you were oblivious to the number next to my repositories, there are a handful there you can look through.

but I would rather not make some of my plugins open-source because I don't want people stealing my shit. One tip I can give you since you say you are still clueless is just to put your thousand hours in, and you will improve and have to put a thousand more in to see improvement. If programming or computer science is something you find fun keep putting time into it every day and you will see improvement.
Your membership duration on GitHub doesn't determine your skill level, at all. There could be multiple reasons that they only joined in 2018. Maybe they just wanted a new account? Maybe they use GitLab primarily. Maybe they only use their own Git server? Hell maybe that just don't like GitHub.
If you've been working with Python and/or Java for 2 years and you're still clueless, you need to reevaluate things. Whether it's your skill level and you need to take a proper course, or you underestimate yourself.
