I will open a network for HCFand practice, the hcf will be for 1000 users and the practice too (2000 users totally)
How much GB ram, do i need to use if i want to host in a vps?
How much for the HCF, how much for the practice & How much for the Hub?

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

First off, hosting it in a VPS wouldn't happen, you'd need a dedicated server(s) with at-least 256 gb ram, good installation of pterodactyl maybe even more ram.
Thanks, i was watching about Oracle, but in this case i ned to search other site

The best course of action for you would be to have multiple dedicated machines (e.g. GAME-2 instances with 64GB ram from OVH), all with pterodactyl and wings installed (for ease of setting up and deploying servers from a GUI) and then sharding the servers across multiple instances (e.g. hcf-1, hcf-2, practice-1, practice-2). You'll also need to take into account some good DDoS protection (TCPShield is the industry leader in this case)

You'll also need to have multiple hub/lobby services too that can handle sudden surges in players.

It's quite a big endeavour to run servers with hundreds/thousands of players and you'll run into issues not too common with smaller servers (such as how you can scale quickly and efficiently without any downtime), always good to know though :)

So, I have a bit of a disagreement with a few of the responses. You don't need pterodactyl, you also shouldn't need 256gb of ram especially not right away.

Realistically the way I'd allocate memory is this

Hubs: (Hub-01, Hub-02, Hub-03, etc...) 4 - 8GB each, load balance the players so you can keep them spread out to avoid massive surges, whilst you still may have large surges they won't be as difficult to deal with.

HCF: Realistically, I'd say 12 - 16GB for an hcf server with pregenerated chunks should be fine as the main problem a lot of the top servers had issues with was generation mainly due to people flying around loading massive amounts of chunks though you could also add more.

Practice: Again, 12-16GB (More if possible, but to start with 12 - 16GB.) One thing to remember is that there are various problems that have to be taken into account such as arena generation depending on how your practice core handles it can definitely have a massive impact, for example if it just creates a new standalone arena when all others are in use so just keep that in mind when picking and choosing server resources.

If you need anything feel free to message me on discord. Scifi#1321

Questions like these get asked every week and the answers are always the same — it depends.

Nice explanation, thanks! I also wanted to make my own home server to host games for my friends, and I wondered how much I needed for that. We often play together, and it’s nice to have our own place, not to be disturbed by anyone and to be able to create freely there.
We play not only Minecraft but also such games as Diablo II: Resurrection or World of Warcraft. I intended to use this server for those games, too and especially for Diablo because we all love it and spend hours in the game. I even have this unique grim helm that’s an extremely rare drop, and it took me ages to find it in the game’s large world.
