How would YOU improve them? I feel like the same design/features have been recycled over and over again and there is nothing new...I'm in the middle of making a new server list from scratch using Sveltekit(I've acquired the following domains: minecraftservers.gg and mc-list.app, not sure which one to use tho).

I was thinking about adding:
  • Modlist/modpack (Displays currently running mods and maybe a link to the modpack/version for people to use to join. Possibly show a curseforge-style convenient "Install" button/link)
  • Whitelist applications at a scale(People might feel that there is little to no point in joining a discord server just to fill out an application only to get declined. Sends an email if you get declined/approved)
  • A better and fair ranking algorithm(maybe user-specific recommendations?) so you cant exactly just pay to appear on the home page.
  • Incorporate promoted servers(paid slots) into search results that are actually relevant. This way, servers can bid for the tag(s) they want to appear in to get promoted in the right places.

I wouldn't make one in the first place tbh. The big thing with server lists is that they need to reach a lot of people. To reach a lot of people, you need to be well known and established, and with the amount of lists that have been in the game for years and years (and a lot of new ones popping up), it would be really difficult without heavy advertising, which would make it difficult to make profit.

First, I'd suggest using the shorter domain (mc-list.app) since in my opinion its easier to remember, or if possible changing "minecraftservers.gg" to "minecraft-servers.gg" since it looks much cleaner. Or if you really want to go all out use both of them, and just pick one of them to be your "main" domain. As for what kind of new features you could add: You could ask users if they want to share their plugins publicly, show online player names on spigot servers, show how long it has been online, when it was last online, add reviews so players can comment how they like the server, make the website support bedrock and java servers, and even add an API so some functions from your website can be used in independent projects. The possibilities are endless. Just make a Trello and every idea you get write it down there. I wish you the best of luck!
