It's a great game, but it may die eventually. We'll see what the future holds for it.

tbh, I think its slowly dying due to lack of innovation in the server market. If a new gamemode in the same tier such as skyblock, factions and prisons got released then it would be great for the game as a whole. But the copy paste skyblock, prisons and faction servers playerbases are slowly growing smaller and smaller.

They said that 4 years ago and Minecraft has only grown.

Im not saying its dead, its just these gamemodes don't get as many players as they would a few years ago. Minecraft as a game is growing but these gamemodes inside are slowly dying.

Expect Mojang to start gradually killing Java starting sometime in the next 5 - 10 years. The next generation of players is going to be using Bedrock, not Java. We might be seeing the start of this now. Microsoft has been growing Mojang's American operations for the last several years. The original studio in Sweden has held on to most of its original staff, but many have moved on. The people who are making Minecraft today are not the same people who were making the game 7 years ago. Jeb has stated that he intends on staying in the company until Microsoft decides to kill Java. Only time will tell what happens after.
