What is the most populair server '' minigame '' in the minecraft commnunity atm

Soo, if you would have to make a new server from scratch wich one is going to be the best and what does the community needs. Sorry for my english just trying to figur out what game is still getting played the most and is worth making a server from scratch ^^

Unless you plan on either:
A. Do some serious marketing
B. Have unique mini games
Mini games servers are kinda a huge bet. People have high expectations for a mini game server and if you can’t compete with the likes of Hypixel and Mineplex, you’re out of the game.

Meanwhile, yes, the community is flooded with faction servers and survival is a little to easy to get into meaning it will likely get flooded soon if not already.

Faction servers tend to stick on 1.7~1.8 and henceforth is dying out due to players getting bored of the ‘same old gameplay’ as they have only been playing that versions for the past 4 years when there have been many updates and new things added to Minecraft. The older players are slowly leaving and the new players (kids) don’t exactly know about or enjoy playing factions. Eventually, faction servers will die out.

SkyBlock is still quite popular but again most tend to stay on 1.8~1.10. When new updates roll in on Minecraft, SkyBlock servers tend to stay the same without that much updates or modifications. I feel as though the playerbase is stagnant for SkyBlock. There isn’t that much room for growth.

I’d say your best bet would be survival. The gameplay for survival is constantly updated alongside Minecraft updates. Newer players tend to hop on SMP servers (it’s usually their first ever servers) and there are many flourishing as there are constant updates making the gameplay not repetitive. With the onslaught of new players, I think survival servers have the most room for growth and you could easily succeed as it arguably requires the least setup as well.

It is mostly just getting all the plugins and such up to date (More of the misc. plugins and such).

Hopefully, though, we can see more servers go for 1.14 due to it adds a decent amount of new things in the game!

Factions = simply too much faction servers and not enough big youtubers
Hypixel = wont die nor with some other minigame servers as people like vikkstar, lachlan etc.. play on it
SG = Making a comeback
Skyblock = Currently the dop dogs, its increasing in popularity
Prison = Has potential to increase in popularity


1.10+

Dating servers = Starting to become a thing as a 1.10+ server
idk any other 1.10+ good servers since 1.10 is a shit ass mode.
