I'm planning on purchasing a .org slot or a m-s-l.com slot in December. I'm wondering, which is more worth it?

Neither,

MCSL - You'll be spending plenty during December, probably around $6k+, if you were here during summer, MCSL made over 130k I believe.

.org - This is a joke, waste of money. Don't go for it.

YouTubers - Get a series (3-5) and make sure during December you do constant events and daily stuff, no one likes a boring server during holidays.

I'm just curious why you think .org is so bad, does it not bring donators, does it not bring players? I'm interested to hear why, since I am considering .org because it seemed like it brings a good long-lasting playerbase to servers.

I've seen servers use it/buy it, you do get players, but they tend to leave after the 2 weeks and you only make 30-50% back.

I'm not 100% sure what it would be during December, but probably the most expensive since its' the most important season for Minecraft.

Have you had experience purchasing a .org slot? I've tracked a few servers before and they seem to do well if they keep most of the slot time for them. I had youtubers such as thecampingrusher and littlelizardgaming record on my server before, littlelizardgaming gave us a peak of 95 players the first day (which is probably bad for the amount of subs he has), and a 2 months later we would only peak at about 30-40 as I remember. The playerbase died down quick with the youtubers we have gotten. Although we got a short series of 2 videos only. I feel like .org or mcsl is the best/only way to go as long as it's done right, and during a good time.

Well, don't call me lucky because I'm in a horrible situation. Due to the server expenses on top of that youtuber (littlelizardgaming) my server is in $1000+ in debt. His channel brought mostly young children who couldn't really even function minecraft very well, and they usually leave if they don't see the youtuber. Our stay rate from that was absolutely horrible, that's a reason why I dislike youtubers. And that was about 6 months ago as well. We peak at like 10-15 now, lol. And the video still hasn't paid off if you calculate server expenses. We paid $3000 for 2 videos, and for the amount of views he got it was a good price. But we probably should've looked in the about section of his channel before purchasing, because it says "kid-friendly videos", and if you take a look at the comments of his videos it appears to be a bunch of little kids.

The slot you can be lucky at is MCSL, i don't see .org being anything.

It could just be me, but I don't like slots, you don't have to agree to what I like/dislike. You shouldn't of been in debt, you should always have backup money incase PLAN A backfires.

Well, not exactly debt, we don't owe money to anyone. Currently, we're spending personal money to keep the server up. And we still haven't made a cent so far. ;P

I'd like to put this out there, I've noticed that before when you'd type in "minecraft servers" in Google MCSL would be second on the list after .org, but now topg.org are second and MCSL went down to third on the list...

I wonder if this is gonna be bad for MCSL...

Any opinions?
