Mineroyal Recruitment Thread.

Hi, thanks for stopping by and taking a gander at my thread. My name's James, and I've been working in the server industry for about 5 years, you might know me from one of my larger projects called HCFPvP, or some of my more smaller ones like Mineroyal, AnthraxPvp, HappyKraft, or Xesteria. This project in particular, Mineroyal, started out as a Star wars factions server in early 2016 complete with light sabers, star wars floating bikes, droids, and guns. It averaged about 20 players concurrently for about the first day and just fell off. I've tried working on it over the years trying to re-make it and hopefully re-release but due to a number of things happening it kind of kept getting pushed to the side for whatever reason. However, I still believe that maybe I can make something of it and I really like the name and the possible branding I could do with it should it become successful.
FAQ
What's your mission statement?
My mission is to create a skyblock server that people love to play and is feature rich and will keep players entertained for months. I'm not in the server game for a pump and dump (Poor tons of advertising in and then sell the server or let it die). I'm playing for the long game. I personally believe that the future for the game is bright, and I'd like to be apart of it. As for Mineroyal, I'm starting off like most skyblock servers but with a few core differences that differentiate us and keep the players hyped, entertained, and loyal which will help build a community. I aim to start small and focus on constantly innovating and improving. I don't expect us to become number one over night and nor do i want that. What I'm looking for is to grow a brand that specifically focuses on providing great entertainment. A reflection on if we're doing that will be our players entertainment and engagement. I want to be customer centric the same way that amazon is centered around proving value for the customer.
How big is the network?
Currently, it's not online, and hasn't been for 3 plus years. So, none. :)
How many staff do you have?
None. After many different attempts at making servers of the years, I've learnt that hiring people to be apart of your project before it's actually complete just adds unnecessary stress, takes time away from working on the server because you constantly have to hold peoples hands and provide updates to make the staff don't get upset and riot then inevitably leaving. Instead, I hire staff once the server is completely finished and has been thoroughly tested to remove the majority of the kinks, and then hire a bunch of staff to not only build hype but also host in an house beta where the staff can familiarize themselves with the server and learn how to properly do their job.
How long have i been making servers for?
Like many others, I started making servers with my friends in early 2013 with hamachi, but due to it being just a fun little thing I was doing with my friends it didn't result in anything but a fun introduction. Then, a few more of my friends and I created a server that we called AnthraxPvP, were we learned that we could get domains and mask our public server ipv4 address which was pretty cool, but it that didn't stop any booters LMFAO. Then came HappyKraft which was created at the time to try and get all the players from a server that I was playing at the time that got sold to come join mine which ended up competing with another one of my acquaintances that had the same idea. Unfortunately, much to my dismay, mine didn't do nearly as well as his. He was better prepared, more knowledgeable, better with people, and knew how to hype up a server. Needless to say, both our servers died off and it was back to the drawing board.

A few months later I started applying to become managers at servers to gain experience and knowledge of how some of the bigger servers worked, and I ended up landing a managerial position at a 50-100 player base skyblock server. (I got the job because i lied about my work history and said I worked as an admin at a really large factions server). It started fine as the expectations of a new hire are fairly low. I was able to keep up the act for about two weeks before I was inevitably fired. It was completely deserved as I was pretty much a glorified admin. Nonetheless, I gained a lot of experience, I learned about Xenforo, taught myself how to use putty, work efficiently within CLI, and learn other Linux distributions. To this day, I feel bad about lying to get myself in the door. However, I wouldn't change it as I learned a lot, and gained a lot of experience. That's not to say I would do again, as I realized how much grief I caused the owner because I was under qualified and that meant he'd have to find a replacement.

After that, I ended up buying a factions server called ForceFactions which was a faction server that contained StarWars related stuff like Ebikes, lightsabers, droids, and guns. I wanted to build a brand and I didn't want to only have a factions server so i rebranded the server the name under my new company called Mineroyal. The server took off to a 20 playerbase with about 15 dollars worth of advertising and made me about $185. Which wasn't pretty bad on the first day. The problem was that a lot of the 20 players that came on didn't want to play some just came to see the cool concept and then naturally over time the server dwindled, and the pretty much go shelved.

Early 2017 I ended up setting out on hiring a couple of developers to help bring back Mineroyal but with a lot more funding, and improve it tenfold. Around that time I ended up meeting two developers one by the name of Dico, and Jack. They were recommended to me by another developer I had worked with the past and the pretty much told me anything I wanted to hear and promised things that they never were able to follow through with. They gave me a date they'd have everything finished by and I planned for release to about one month after that and started booking tons of YouTubers. $14,000 later all the advertising was booked and ready for advertising of the server. Throughout the months leading to the server's release, the developers barely did anything. I'm partially to blame for just allowing it to go on for so long, but they kept on feeding me excuses and empty promises about all the delays. Because of the fact I already had agreements and contracts with them and the YouTubers I felt pressured into staying with them because at the time I thought it was my only hope to stick with them. Needless to say, they kept on doing nothing, and about 1 month away from release I decided to abandon Mineroyal, and buy a server that already had proven success. HCFPvP.

HCFPvP was a hardcore faction server that peaked with 1000 players online in 2015. The server had been resold twice before it ended up in my hands but didn't matter because the original files hadn't stayed with the sever but instead ones that came from the previous owners and seemed to work from their launch about 3 months before my acquisition. I got my current devs to look over the files and stress test the server, and make sure the server worked. Sure enough, they said yes, and we made minor editions before release. Release day hits. 3,000 unique players connect in 15 minutes. Problem is. The network can't handle that many people, and the HCF server itself kept on crashing. It was a shit show. All in all. The server was poorly managed, and it is my fault for how it resulted.

The take away: Despite the failure described was not all of it was bad. I learnt a huge amount of management techniques, responsibilities, core principals, ways to deal with people, contracting, and a whole a bunch of other things that are ingrained in my mind that aren't easily put to words. It's unfortunate that my last server cost me as much as it did, but I wouldn't change anything about it as I learned invaluable information that I'm confident will help me years to come on my future projects. In terms of moving ahead I'm going to take things one step at time, more cautiously, be player eccentric, and make sure everything runs perfectly.

Through all the experiences mentioned above, I learned a great deal of what it takes to make a server succeed as well as that it can just as easily flop and result in nothingness. Which is exactly why I think I'm the right person for you to partner with, because I'm in it for the long haul. I understand that failure is possible, but that doesn't matter to me anymore as I understand it's merely a speed bump. I don't expect my server to become the best overnight, I'm in fact completely comfortable if it doesn't do great the first time round because I will stop at nothing to fix whatever problem might occur. However, by me saying that that doesn't mean i won't not do everything in my power to try not make sure that won't happen. Point is, this isn't just another business or another project. This is my dream, this is my life, I've been playing minecraft since i was a kid, and I don't intend on stopping any time soon.
Do developers need to sign a contract?
As of right now, no. In the future, yes. When the server is actually up contracts will have to be signed.
Do developers need to do deal with core plugins?
Yes. Everything needs to work with one another.
Do the developers need to work with any apis?
Yes, MVWDPlaceholderApi, and PlaceholderApi (PAPI). There be others that I'm not aware of.
Do you have your own community forum website? Do you plan to make one?
Currently, I don't have one. I don't think I will, but potentially. I think discord is kind of replacing xenforo, but if I'm persuaded otherwise or if theres a reason to setup a forum/website we'll do it.

Requirements:
-Several years of work experience with java, SpigotAPi, MySQL, Bungee, and
-Must have Plugins to show of capabilities or have worked at medium or large servers.
-Hard, but smart worker. I'm looking for developers that complete projects in a timely fashion.
-Na Sleep schedule (That way communication is more consistent and easier.)
-Willing to work long term.

Projects YOU will make. completion time 1 - 1.5 weeks. (Negotiable)

- MrIslandBorder plugin
- MrAlways day plugin (No, /gamerule doDaylighCycle false doens't work)
- MrTimedfly plugin

- MRCoinflip plugin

Sir, I suggest you check yourself. Being on the light side is simply a hindrance you can only see the dark. but on the darkside you can see the light and the dark. The force is with you, it's up to your choosing.

Holy shit dude you’re a dick! Also no developer wants to read your entire life story.
Are you getting offended on someone else’s be half? Anyways I meant what I said in a nice way. I couldn’t figure out how to fix my thread and helped me. Also, some people do. That’s why on spigot 10 people made their personal mission to shit on my thread until I made it contain a lot of unnecessary information. I’m choosing to still leave it up here because a I spent a lot of time writing it and maybe other would also like to know. Regardless, I don’t think you have any business being a dick to me.
