As titled.

Several instances of people joining and asking to buy Minecraft accounts. Like come on lol.

Suggested minimum account ages - perhaps 3 days, 7 days or a month.

3 days is probably long enough for most people behaving like above to forget about shoutbox.
7 days is about the same thing, though perhaps a bit longer so as to ensure more people don't do this. Diminishing returns?
A month is pretty much in line with other stuff iirc, and will definitely deter a fair few people.

Minimum posts would probably the better way to go. Like 10 or 20 (exclude post count on certain subforums such as introduction so they can't just spam every introduction post) so they are already engaged in the community and not just here for advertisement.

Unfortunately it'd probably have to be some combination of both as we already see people spamming the 3 post thing to be able to post links and other content on the forum.
Could go the way with certain other sections where the requirements are obfuscated, but that could just be overkill.

Wasn't the shoutbox a premium feature? Why not just bring it back to the way it was?

Because it's pretty clear there's no intention to do that, so there has to be some midde ground.

So MCM is just removing features that we have paid for? Great... The site is really going downhill.

Why did you disagree Andrew?
I don't agree that the site is going downhill. I have seen a massive increase in site activity and have handled more support tickets this month than any month prior and I joined the staff team almost a year ago. I also don't agree that the site is removing features you've paid for, you paid for a perk and you still have access to that perk, it's just now offered free. You've not lost anything as multiple other features were added into the ranks when we updated to XF2 and some were adjusted. If anything I think the ranks are more value for money now than previously.

I agree with the overall suggestion that we should have some limitations on shoutbox to prevent the new accounts from just joining to offer forbidden products. However, I don't agree that the site is going downhill as a result of the changes that were made and in fact, I think the site has massively improved since our upgrade to XF2.

What new features have been added exactly? The shoutbox was sold as an exclusive feature, but it ain't. That's a feature removed.

Essentially, you bought CSGO a while back. Then, all of a sudden, due to decreasing player counts, it's now available for free. What you paid for is now becoming like TF2.

An item that was (or part of) a paid service should either be grounds for reimbursement or additional benefits for those who purchased the service. That applies to all things, not just mcm adbox.

I specifically purchased my membership exclusively for shoutbox participation. Now, the service I paid for, is offered for free. Why wasn't it then initially offered for free? Why did I have to pay money for something that others don't.

I don't agree, you used the gaming industry as an example. Sometimes games go free to play after you purchase the game, you don't receive a full refund for every game. You've paid for a product, and used that product, just because that specific feature is no longer available does not make the purchase any less valid.

For example, we added the ability for ranked users to bump resources which was not available before.

You've paid a one-time price for the perks that are advertised, you're paying for use of the product, and how that product operates is down to the governing body.

I agree it always sucks to see perks you've paid for go free, however, as I stated above other perks have been gained. It's not just a loss and therefore disagree with the point that because of that change the site has gone downhill as I see no evidence to support that.

It has since changed since purchasing. I agreed upon the time of purchase for the incentives of said product. That's like saying you pay for internet at a gigabit speed. Suddenly, the governing body needs to change that service to a lower speed and now believes it shouldn't refund you as "they can change the terms at any point and it's up to the governing body".

I also made no comment in website activity. That being said. Until recently, numbers were dramatically dwindling and that was the reason for the adbox change.

Strictly speaking, I agreed at the time of purchase, as it is not a continual subscription, for the perks associated with it at the time of purchase. Taking those away, adding new ones or not, is stripping me of something I paid for. Especially since it isn't a renewing service nor had a specified lifetime.
