Hello. I'm a teen with a passion for gaming, and over the past few years,
server ownership. I've owned dozens of smaller servers over the years, including multiple
"competitive factions servers" …. There's just one, small, problem.

Modern competitive factions servers are. not. fun.

I've been playing factions since roughly 2015, back when Rusher still owned The Archon.
Was TheArchon perfect? Hell no. Ranks cost as much as $600 each and the community was toxic.
But you know what? It wasn't pay to win. Maps didn't reset every two weeks. It was still a fun place to play.

But when you look at factions nowdays? - What has it turned to. Huge "ftop" prizes. "BuyCraft bundles" to
incentivize faction leaders to play. Printer and genbuckets do every single bit of work that you used to do
yourself for you. All that modern factions is, is just paying people to play on your server.

Its pay-to-win
Every single quality of life or decent feature is locked behind an expensive rank that has to be purchased.
And while ranks in themselves are okay in my eyes - them being mandatory to have fun and enjoy the
server - isn't. Not to mention that with servers giving factions hundreds of dollars of BuyCraft or PayPal,
these ranks can't exactly be ultra cheap or it'll break the servers eco.

Raiding isn't fun
Gone are the days of trying to offline raid people, using 50 stackers, or anything of the like.
Most factions servers have tried to stay with the times and added faction shields, made tnt almost
infinite, and added faction tnt banks and tntfill for everyone. Genbuckets are as cheap as dirt so there's
no reason to have less than a full buffer with 160 walls.

If you're not raiding with a 255 XY AP Nuke, you're considered a joke.

Even if you actually breach, there's nothing of value to take from the base aside from the spawners.
Which is nice and all - but where are the days of being delighted to find dubs of P4?
No longer are gaps, tnt, p4, ceggs, or obsidian valuable - aka, there's no point in raiding for anything other
than villager or iron golem spawners. Not to mention everyone has a ton of Player Vaults,
so they don't store anything in chests where it could be easily lost.

Printer ruins farming
What's that? You want a balanced economy? You want farming to actually mean something?
Good luck with that when everyone uses printer and creates 100 chunk cactus farms or
gigantic sugar cane farms. Printer allows for insane sizes of farms to be created without much
work or effort - ruining the eco, and removing any grind or player experience from creating
a farm.

Additions :

There will be no f top payout. If you play factions for ftop - that's fine, but this won't be the server for you.
There are rank transfers from the major factions servers ( join the discord for more info )
There is HeadHunting. Every few tiers you unlock, you'll also unlock quality-of-life style perks.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

all good I guess :) ( loophole gang )

but on related to your thread, you're absolutely right. I enjoyed factions, and prison for the reason cause I grinded hard for my items rather than buying them, and the feeling of walking up and losing all your items, ahh the pain. which isn't there anymore ,
But from a player point standpoint, why spend hours on a server, when I can set up my entire base in under an hour with regens, and obby walls?
mhm - that's true. Personally , on modern servers I can print in an entire buffer in under an hour once trays are done. Which is nice and all - but it's not very rewarding is it?

I plan on adding only cobblestone genbuckets, but even that I'm VERY on the fringe about that aswell. I MIGHT remove genbuckets altogether, but I'd want more community opinions about that.

If you're removing cobblestone genbuckets, then raiding wont really be a thing. It will be old old old factions either having 5 cobble walls and a obsidian box lol. But yeah this looks cool.

yeah lol. I mean TBH it's not like people didn't have hundred wall bases. Do you not remember genning walls the old school way with lava/water? =P
But yeah, keeping cobble gens makes the most sense.

Looks interesting and I definitely agree. However, I would be cautious with not allowing printer as it will turn many people away :(. But best of luck :) will be jumping on to have a look myself.
