I've been thinking about this for a few days now. Let's say that you have your server offers multiple kinds of things to do. Minigames, quests, challenges, etc. When completing these things you will be rewarded with some type of tokens.

These tokens are *ONLY* redeemable through your website. When redeeming them you can get certain perks, tags, but more importantly ranks. You would of course be able to purchase these tokens through your website as well.

I might edit this thread with more detail later, but what do you guys think of this?

Thanks for reading.

This is a good idea. Since the tokens are accessible by every single player playing the game, it can also be purchasable through a shop.

Exactly, this is why at first I thought this was a pretty good idea.

So pretty much what Shotbow does? Regardless, it is still not allowed. At the end of the day, you are still giving donators an advantage.

They aren't blacklisted because they removed all currency purchases now. To earn the shop currency, you must play games. Last time I checked anyway

How do they make money then? lol

While this seems like a good idea, like others said I believe this is no EULA complaint, since even though you can get the tokens by playing games, you use them to buy things and donating to get more gives you an advantage as you can buy things quicker. Only way around that I can think of is if the things you can buy are only cosmetic and have nothing to do with gameplay. (Such as ranks you said couldn't have a /feed command)

this would basically be the same thing as selling ingame money which is also not allowed, so I highly doubt that this is EULA compliant.

To make literally everything eula proof just add like a .0001% chance on getting the premium item/kit/rank in a crate. Basically the way you can get ranks on mineplex by opening chests. They could literally sell godmode but being accessable by all players through that chance thats never gonna happen at all it should totally be eula proof.
Correct me if i'm wrong tho xD

Most large servers are just saying fuck it to the EULA and made their own launcher to bypass the blacklist.

A plugin I developed a month or so back basically allows servers to be pay2win again. Pretty much you keep all the same donor buffs, such as ranks, fly, money etc in the store and whenever a user purchases the package, it gives them a crate which they must place. Once the crate has been placed it cannot be opened for a configurable amount of time and the location of it is broadcasted in the chat, meaning that anyone could potentially get the items. It is insanely unlikely though that the crate will be stolen because the buyer could be deep underground or anywhere that is difficult to get to.[DOUBLEPOST=1471986384][/DOUBLEPOST]

An example of this for whoever is wondering: http://arkhamnetwork.org/launcher/

Apparently Mojang aren't allowing voting rewards? That's not even pay2win.

Nope, you're right. Simply by making it possible for any player to get any of the purchasable goodies for free is good enough.

Fix me if I'm wrong and I didn't get it.

How is it Eula compliant? You still have an advantage on someone else.
You basically pay your self to 'win' because you pay real money to get tokens and with these tokens you redeem a rank/perk.
Technically, Mojang can't control the websites of the servers. If one was really concerned about it, though, you could even give players a chance of getting the coins/tokens ingame, or a VERY small amount. As long as you aren't directly buying anything ingame, you're fine. So if the server makes a website-only currency, they should be in the clear.

It doesn't matter how you do it, if your server is pay2win they can still blacklist you. If that was the case, wouldn't servers like Arkham do so instead of using a custom launcher and significantly decreasing their playerbase?

Be like Hypixel, sell network boosters and state that it's players who tip the player thus making it not P2W as the player is tipping another player coins.

Hypixel's going to get worked over how someone stole their idea lol.

Also, I have a slight feeling that Mojang will simply update their EULA and prohibit this as well. Nice idea tho ;-;
