Not at all. Hosting companies will be fine. Buycraft should be fine as well. However, they did officially add in the rules from back when the server monetization posts were published, so depending on how hard Microsoft/Mojang plan on enforcing these new guidelines, you may need to reconsider donation packages on your server again. So? No buycraft no more hosting companies and no more that 5k?
Now this is just stupid. People that are big on YouTube for minecraft (BajanCanadian,Deadlox,SSundee, etc) are going to be majorly effected by this. YouTube is a job, you can't just "lay them off" like that. Whatever though, not my problem.
I think it means that they can be viewed for free, not charged for money. So youtubers can still make money (i still think they should ban this.. youtubers should play on servers and get people on the servers they actually like! not be paid damn it!)
You are not allowed to charge money or force viewers to have a paid subscription in order to view your video. They should be able to access the video and watch it for free without any sort of payment wall. If viewers must pay you money in any way, shape, or form in order to watch the video, that's a no-no. However, you ARE allowed to sell sponsorships and monetize videos with advertisements however you see fit. With streams, you are allowed to privately stream, but after 24 hours, the stream must be made available to the public free of charge, just like videos. I'm not sure that can be any more clear, to be honest. As long as they don't charge people to watch their videos on YouTube, they will not be affected at all. And Mojang isn't responsible for "YouTube workers" so this is nothing at all like laying someone off lol.
Yes. The $5000 rule only applies to hand-crafted products. However, their rule is that your charges should be targeted toward paying the expense of running a server, not getting a profit from it.So are servers still allowed to make more then 5k per calender year?
They're not supposed to, but that's old news. The new rules they just added have nothing to do with server donations. The $5000 a year thing applies to hand-made Minecraft items. So are servers still allowed to make more then 5k per calender year?
Alright thanks for the quick responseThey're not supposed to, but that's old news. The new rules they just added have nothing to do with server donations. The $5000 a year thing applies to hand-made Minecraft items.

Yes, Minecraft is ruined because Microsoft is preventing its players from making more than $5000 a year off of their products. Let's all quit the game because we can't hand-make Steve plushes and sell more than 20 of them.MicroSoft have ruined Mojang.
inb4 someone makes a new mc clone
Do any of those YouTubers charge people to watch their videos? If not, they are not being affected in any way at all by this.Microsoft is being super selfish about this. The fact that they have a community growing minecraft for them like syndicate, captainsparklez, bajancanadian, and tons more is just delounged. Something needs to change in this community or its going to die out.
