Why Microsoft? Do you really care if some 15 year old makes $200 a month off their own server.. does it really affect you.. because I don't see you offering servers. Fuck off Microsoft, I liked Mojang back in the day, now they are just getting greedy... what is next? - not allowed to sell builds?.. jesussss

SO servers can make more than 5k!
If you actually read the EULA changes it says nothing at all about server donations.
"How the new Commercial Use Guidelines affect sales of hand-crafted Minecraft things
Minecraft inspires lots of people to create lots of cool things. Considering the nature of the game, it’s no surprise that people create bespoke, real-life items and want to share them with the world. We’re OK with you doing this, but for obvious reasons we need to include a few caveats: your designs must be unique, you can only make 20 versions of each individual item, and you can’t make over $5000 from sales each year."

The $5000 cap is about real life items only.[DOUBLEPOST=1445982118,1445982081][/DOUBLEPOST]

Reread it, the new rules have nothing to do with server donations.

Did anyone take the Realms survey? I did. It had a couple of questions on what popular servers you played on. Microsoft probably got jealous that they were making money, and put the 5k limit.

ITT: Tons of misinterpretation of the EULA.

Honestly these new rules aren't that bad, and will probably affect none of you. Let me see if I can clear it up for you folks...

Basically the jist... You can't charge people to view videos. Youtubers and streamers will be fine, because that content is already free to see, they make their money from ads. This specifically refers to paywalls to view the content. Like you can't set up a website that requires you to pay $$$ to access Minecraft related videos or streams.

If you manufacture tangible Minecraft related goods, like real items, something you can hold in your hand... you can't make anymore than 20 of that item; and your sales for said tangible items can't be more than $5000 for a calendar year; and you have to sell it through a third party website like Ebay or Etsy.

IP rights transferred from Mojang to Microsoft.

No broadcasting to TV <-- stupid, since TV is dead.

There you have it. You can all stop with the sky is falling crap.

Massive servers like Mineplex that sell physicial clothing and stuff will probs be affected am i rite???
Only if they're selling a Minecraft-related product. If the shirts just have their logo on it that is still allowed.

I'll be replying to this thread frequently.

Well, honestly, they could just sell the T-Shirts on another website. As long as the shirt has nothing with "minecraft" on it, I think it's fine. Their logo isn't really mine-crafty.

Yeah but what about intangible items, like most of the people on MCM sell?

Nope, the 5k cap has nothing to do with servers.

rate this shit agree aight?

Don't release your buycraft stats - if you're making over 30k a year or something.

I doubt they'll target anyone that has a 1,000 and under playerbase server - They're more concerned about Hypixel and Mineplex and such.
Nope, this has nothing to do with server money. Re-read it.

Exactly, you and many others in this thread only read "$5000 a year" and freaked out and are now spreading misinformation about it.

It says nothing about server donations.

This really isn't that hard to understand if you people would just read it. Nowhere in these new rules does it mention anything at all about a cap on server donations. None of these changes affect any of you most likely. Stop being drama queens and spreading misinformation.
