Indeed. Every single monitor in the poll above is over $1K. Personally, I feel the monitor should get the most amount of money in your setup. It’s the thing you’ll be staring at every moment you use said setup. Have you ever seen people buy TVs for their theater rooms that cost LESS than their Blu-Ray players and speaker systems? No, of course not. The screen is the most crucial piece.
That’s an entirely different situation - the blu ray player and speakers that run the thing aren’t the same as say a pc. If you don’t have a pc capable of running a monitor of this caliber I wouldn’t get any of the ones you’ve said. When it comes to this exact situation it’s the pc that’s the most important

You're right, it's not a fair comparison, but I maintain what I said earlier: when I'm staring at the screen the entire time, I don't think it's dumb of me to feel that it's the most important part of the setup. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's the issue, I think, with me making this thread. Everyone here is looking at this from the point of view of a gamer. Yes, if I cared mostly about playing games on my monitor, I'd want to have a super beefy GPU. But I don't want to play games on this monitor. Not more than once every 3 months, anyway.

As soon as I say that, people's next question is "then what's the point of a high end monitor?" Why should a monitor only have to be used for gaming?

Not just gaming. You’d need a high end gpu to view content at this level

No you don’t. The shrimpy Radeon 555X in my MacBook Pro can push dual 5K at 60Hz. Unless you’re gaming, it’s not that hard to push high resolutions.
