Skyblock seems to be popular right now. Factions/HCF is extremely over saturated and isn’t a good idea to invest in. I wish Prison could make a comeback it’s my favorite game mode.

Yup, SkyBlock seems to be the most popular gamemode in Minecraft these days. I personally like Prison and Kit-PvP, they're my favorite </3

Can someone explain what Prison is? I’ve been away from MC for a loooooong time, and I’m playing the mini-games I’d play in 2014. I don’t know much about what’s happened since then, except that BedWars was popular for a long while in the middle.

It’s a gamemode centered around leveling up through various ranks by mining and selling items. The ranks are typically meant to represent blocks of a prison (as the entire map is supposed to be inside a prison.) The more you play and level up, the more rich and powerful you become. With that being said, once you become fairly setup you can start to PvP other players.

Now the problem with prison is that it splits itself into two categories: OP and non-OP. OP mainly centers around the mining and leveling up aspect and at times doesn’t really focus on PvP. OP servers typically have dozens of ranks to try and level up through and it’s basically a grind. Non-OP emphasizes more on the PvP side of things and genuinely tries to make it harder to progress through the ranks. You might also see prison guards on non-OP servers that try and maintain order.

You mine blocks endlessly and upgrade your pickaxe to mine blocks faster. It's like cookie clicker or adventure capitalist, it's very dry in my opinion. The only appealing part to me is seeing how well a server can build the shell, or mine, around a cube of blocks in the ground.
