Quickly play music to your server!
Music on Demand is a plugin that will grab music from YouTube or SoundCloud and synchronize the playback of the music for all players on your server.
MusicOnDemand allows you to quickly play music to your server.
It currently supports YouTube and SoundCloud URL's.
After submitting the request command, the media will be processed on our server, packaged and hosted for immediate download.
You can either play for yourself or for everyone.
If you choose to play for everyone, the music will only start if everyone has downloaded or the timeout is reached.
Currently the timeout is set to 120 seconds for < 5 players and 60 seconds for > 5 players. More timeout brackets will be added later and configurable via configuration.
The first YouTube request may take 10-30 seconds to process.
If you re-play a previously played song, it will skip processing and use the cached music for quick downloads later.
SoundCloud is considerably faster because we don't have to download and process an entire video.
Currently (5/8/16) there is no configuration. This is a core plugin that will have features added as it goes. I need to first see if it's viable to continue work and if people will like this.
1. Drag and drop the downloaded jar into your server plugin directory.
2. Restart your server. It's now installed and ready to use.
3. Go on YouTube or SoundCloud and copy the URL of a song that you wish to play.
4. Paste the URL after the play command as seen below. Enjoy music.
Video Demo
(Please note, if it's your first time playing from that URL, it will take 10-30 seconds to process. Previously processed media will process near instantly)
Main command: /music
Sub commands: play, playall
Permission: music.admin
Usage: /music play <insert URL here>
(Play music for just yourself)
Usage: /music playall <insert URL here>
(Play music for everyone currently on the server)
These are features that could be added depending on the popularity of this plugin.
- Playlisting - Insert media links into a configuration file. To be used with the feature below.
- Source Points - Make a room or area where the music will play instead of globally.
- Song grouping - Group a configurable amount of songs into a single pack to avoid long wait times inbetween tracks. (For use in source points, but may be configurable)
- BossBar Music Info - Add a bossbar displaying the song name and time remaining. (For use in source points, but may be configurable)
- Configurable Range - Set the range in which the music will play from a configurable point.
- Configurable Timeout Brackets - Right now it's a set 120s @ < 5 and 60s @ >5. We'll add a bracket configuration section that will allow you to determine how long to wait for various levels of players that are queued.
- Ignore Command - Temporary command that will set the players status to ignore. The music won't play or download for them. Useful in situations where you want to play a track globally but don't want to disrupt anyone that may be doing activities such as PVP.
- Configurable Audio Channel - Currently the audio is playing on the Master track. This may not be desireable for everyone. Will add a config option to change which channel it will play in (Jukebox, etc).
- Please note, the "Music" channel won't work because default MC music will play ontop of your custom music. Tell your players to turn the music slider off for the best experience)
- More YT Resolvers - This will drastically speed up the processing phase for first-time plays of tracks. Currently we're just using one server that may be under too much load.
- Add more media sources - Any highly requested places that music can be found, we'll attempt to add.
- Remove AFK users from que - Listen for "ACCEPTED" status, set a timeout for that.
- Play command for others - Add parameter for other player to play for others.
- PVP listener - Don't download pack if player has recently engaged in PVP.
- 1.8 Support - Currently only works with 1.9/1.10+. Will see if I can make this work with 1.8.x as well.
- (Idea feature) SQL Support? - Servers may want to sync their playlists across multiple servers. This could be possible but may take additional planning and thought.
Q: Why does this require the use of an external server?
A: Downloading and processing YouTube videos in Java is extremely difficult. YouTube constantly changes their ciphers and require lots of advanced mechanics to get the video file. This processing is done via PHP with licensed software. In addition, we're utilizing CloudFlare for the CDN, which means every time you play a song to 100 players, it won't effectively DDoS your server as they download the pack at once.
In addition, YouTube likes to blacklist servers that make lots of requests. We've got a way around that.
Q: Can I host it myself?
A: Perhaps, but a lot of time and effort has gone into making this software possible. Shoot me a PM to talk business.
Q: Why so expensive?A: This has been something I've been wanting to make for years. Extensive work has been put into the plugin and server components to make this as smooth and simple as possible. It will only get better as time goes on. I'll be able to afford more components required to process the videos faster.
Q: A player said they can't hear the music, what gives?
A: They must have accepted the resource pack request when it was sent to players. Alternatively, they can add your server to their favorites, click edit, and enable resource packs. This way it will never ask them and auto download.
It also helps to ask them to check their Master volume track (or whichever you have set it to once that is implemented)
They also must have already been on the server when the track started.
If they switch worlds, it will stop.. Currently a bug with MC's sound engine.
Please do not re-distribute this plugin. It just makes it more difficult for everyone in the end.
It's in your best interest to only play licensed music you have rights or permission to use. We're not responsible for any copyright claims against you.
Limit ONE install per purchase unless your other servers are playing from the exact same set of songs. This is to reduce server load.
Contact me to work out additional licenses.
Support will be provided as fast as possible for buyers.
I'm on the computer basically 16 hours a day, so feel free to PM me, I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
This plugin is currently a core plugin. Please see the upcoming features to see what will be added in the near future.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave a comment in the discussion section.
Enjoy playing music to your server!

DEMO SERVER:
dev.gld.bz (1.10.2)
Use /music playall <YT or SC URL>
Current Price: $30
Grants unlimited music requests and caching
So unfortunately Spigot has denied my request based on the fact that this requires an external server to process the media.
As a result, I'll still try to sell it, but I'm going to have to ask for a bit more in order to keep me motivated to keep updating the plugin.
(Minecraft updates, YouTube changes their security methods, etc)
New price is $50 $30, this guarantees you that the plugin will stay operational for up to 2 years from the date of purchase. Each time someone buys it, I'll reset the 2 year counter.
If in the event it stops working, contact me and I'll fix it as soon as humanly possible.
All future updates will be provided to all customers via email or PM.
If you're still interested in grabbing a copy of this, please PM me.
