so i just got my new laptop and obviously everyone here has more knowledge about computers and whatnot than me, and I'm curious if you guys have any suggestions that I should implement or act on before doing much. I don't have an SSD (I'll be adding one soon) so I can't really transfer my os there or anything, but here are some specs in case it helps:
- NVIDIA GTX 1650
- 8GB DDR4 RAM (ordered to add an extra 8gb but they don't have any cards in stock, they promised to deliver with compensation in a few days)
- 1tb HDD

uh what else do you need? its basically an Asus f571gt of the variant with the above specs. All ill be doing now is downloading things like Discord, Spotify, Figma, and Minecraft and ill be playing for a bit

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

also it's pretty slow for a new laptop, is it because it's 8gb? Even so, it's not supposed to lag this much. Or maybe because it's new and needs to adjust or smth?

TBF the graphics card you got isn't really that great, would have been better to look for one that had at least a 1650 Super in it. 8GB of ram is under the basic amount of ram for most games, but for minecraft it should be just fine. It is probably slow because it has a HDD in it, an SSD would be much more recommended. What mother board if you mind me asking?

I'm not sure, I'll send over the product link from the local store I purchased from: https://www.techlandbd.com/asus-f571gt-core-i5-gaming-laptop?search=Asus f571gt

The graphics card he has is good for most games right now. 8GB of ram is the recommended for gaming and if he had an SSD he would most likely install his Windows on it only, as well as that a HDD will not drastically cause performance issues unless it's faulty. OP what CPU do you have?
i5, 9th gen. I've embedded product link

The 1650 for its price is overpriced asf. Take a look here:
8GB of ram is good for games like minecraft but not for more high intense games.

The HDD is probably your sole let down. SSDs vastly improve performance. Like it's the difference between a 5 minute Windows bootup and a 30 second boot. A lot of laptops have no dedi graphics so there's no way that graphics is your bottleneck. Same with RAM.

You're probably right because even a 8gb RAM isn't bad, I think upgrading to an SSD may cut out the slight hangs, but it's gotten better now, a lot better. It was probably adjusting or something. But after a few days I'll be changing my RAM to 16gb, if that doesn't result in a fully smooth performance, then that would mean it's deffo the ssd missing.

An SSD over an HDD is a night and day difference and if your laptop supports it a M.2 SSD is a 7-8 second boot time, 16GB of RAM is also becoming the modern standard but you can get away with 8GB for basic things like reading this post. The more RAM you have the more fluent experience for multi-tasking you'll have. The GPU will not awful it's not good either.

So I should consider upgrading into an ssd storage rather than an 16gb ram instead of 8gb?[DOUBLEPOST=1588632702][/DOUBLEPOST]Also I need help with changing the location of the Quick Access folders. I want to keep the Drive C vacant for OS programs and packages only. I changed the locations of all the folders to Drive D but after i download stuff the files go back to Drive C (as it shows on the properties setting). Could you guys put out some introductions, or if anybody's willing to help me sort it out, feel free to dm me on discord, Agrolax#6971, would appreciate the help greatly.

A like 120 SSD to improve boot times are cheap as hell now, like $30-40 from a decent company. You should be able to get both the SSD and RAM.

xd it's got terrible battery apparently. I've been using it plugged since when i opened it, i hope that doesn't reduce battery life or anything. And I've been having issues with my storage drive partitions, I'm gonna find someone who can help me about it.
