My experience with service teams is coming to and end, As I am resigning from any and all teams I work for. Here is my experience and advice for all the team owners out there. If you trash this thread or neg rep me simply for giving out my experience and opinion, You are suppressing my right to free speech, And you aren't allowed to neg rep simply because you disagree with someone.
Extremely Tedious Commission Process
So, I dislike service teams for many reasons, This being the first.
I have to wait until the sales rep finds a client that is willing enough
to click on those long paragraphs of text left in the comments of there threads,
all along the lines of, "Hey, Here at (Insert Generic Service Team Here) we have many freelancers who can get this done for a good price..." After that, The client has make a ticket,
Describe what they want and then wait. Usually, It takes a few hours before a freelancer can respond to a commission, So they grow impatient and leave or they leave you with no time to finish the commission. It's not the customers fault, I understand how urgent it is to get what you need for your server release or whatever you need. Then, We have to speak over details and then we have to wait for the Sales Rep, Who probably lives in a different time zone and it's probably 3AM for them so you have to wait day and night until the send the invoice. Then when you finish the commission, You have to wait AGAIN for them to send the other invoice and then pay you.
Taking a cut of freelancer's pay
So, Service teams get away with taking the freelancers cut of pay, Some teams take around 20-15%, Sometimes even more. They get away with this by saying "we got you the client", Which is a valid excuse, however, if you get a good thread design and you have a convincing portfolio and reputation, You can easily get business going. This % of pay cut is simply just a way of team owners to make money without working.
Overall Appauling & Annoying
You will see many threads saying things like "NO SERVICE TEAMS" simply because of how tedious it is to deal with them. The generic names of service teams like "Uber Studios" or "Etheral Services", Not to mention the excessively long and robotic sounding paragraphs that are copied and pasted, And the Sales Reps don't even pay attention to the thread or details. And all the Sales Reps who do type theirs out still do a bad job because it's so robotic looking and annoying and redundant. Service teams flood the market, And there are so many teams it's too hard to count. They just keep popping up left and right, Making the same mistakes over and over.
CONCLUSION:
This is my overall criticism and experience with service teams, And I was stupid enough to apply and work for them. At one point I was so stupid I was about to found my own team until I saw how repetitive and annoying they are. Don't make any more teams, it hurts the profits for solo freelancers who will often charge less than service teams.
