I will apologize now for the grammatical mistakes, it is really late but Ima bored and don't want to sleep. Anyways, so my astronomy teacher today in class was talking about doing research at home about a project we are doing. She said that we could only visit sites with a .org, .net, .edu, and .gov extensions. She said that all others are like CreepyManInBasementEatingMacNCheeseConspiracies.com No joke that is legitly what she said. Am I the stupid one or is she on crack?

The main reason for that is because sites like those are generally unbiased. Anyone can register a .com domain, meaning they can put false information on there (it should be noted that anyone can register .org and .net domains as well, but I digress). Students for the most part can't tell how biased a source is, so limiting the top level domain that they are allowed to visit helps ensure that their source is valid. You'll probably have to continue to do this for the rest of your school career as well. Sites from .edu and .gov are reliable sources.

Protip: when searching for a source, add "site:*.edu OR site:*.gov" (no quotes) to get only reliable sources.

Im 10th grade, I'm not a retard but the fact that none of them are allowed is stupid. We have gone over the radcab stuff to see if the site is legit or not. She black listed us from even using Space.com or Astronomy.com... At our age I would hope we would be able to tell if a site is legit or not. For petes sake we are only researching astronomers not what the unidentifiable black material is on Neptune's rings.
