If you have acess to the chat box, you can advertise your product/ service every 20min and that might help you get more clients. Being overall friendly and making a good impression also helps and it's easier to do it over a conversation than through posts in a thread.

The points made above regarding the fact that you come off as more serious if you're actually investing in the server.

I'd like to that, yes. I believe it's the same thing as thinking that someone is good either at a game because they've a rank on a server that only gives you cosmetics. It just shows that you love to support that service and you're investing in it.
