And posting your 'brilliant' ideas in the suggestion forums in attempt to boost your reaction count isn't a great way to become more reputable on the site. ;)

If we started giving out premium features to non-premiums for free, people wouldn't have a reason to buy it. (Having it paid for like name colors might work though)

Also ratings or "reactions" I should say aren't reputation. A positive reputation is earned by doing many successful deals and contributing to the community for a fairly long time.

That's the point.
If new members were given a way to be trusted right off the bat, the trust wouldn't be worth very much would it?
New members join all the time with the intention of scamming.
This is just how life works.
That's how reputation works.
You do a few small deals, talk to people, gain trust little by little, and eventually everyone knows who you are and that you're a right straight arrow.
