Names being blocked

Recently, the Minecraft IGNs "Dose", "Halo" and "Walrus" were all blocked instead of becoming available. "Dose" was released a few hours after being blocked and the same with "Halo" but in about a day.

They aren't blocked as names normally are where you can't claim any variation of the name:

Same case with Halo and Dose, but they were released and claimed later on.

This leads me to believe that it has something to do with Mojang preventing popular names from being sniped by blocking them and releasing them at a random time later.

Does anyone have any insight on this or know for sure what's going on?

I'm sorry but when a account is blocked or locked what does it mean and what happens to your account XD (no hate plz)
And I just sniped a really OG name hopefully it doesn't get blocked

We can wait for Walrus to become available and see if there's a similarity in times between Halo and Walrus, JodyHighroller (Choons) May be able to give timings.

Blocked = A name that's supposed to become available isn't claimable. Nothing happens to the account, just nobody can claim the past name.

Locked = If accounts are migrated in bulk on the same IP, a suffix of "-compromised" gets added to your email, password gets reset and security questions disabled. Only way to get it back is with TID.

It just means that they block it for a random amount of time, (day, hour etc.) then they release it to stop snipers from getting them.

u cant use it anymore if it gets locked

That's what I was going to do as well. "Cars" was over 1k interest level and didn't get blocked.

This sucks because I may have to change back my snipe transfer name.
