I made my website and I just need to make my contact form to work. I need it to send the message to my email. Need simple help with that, I can give a vouch if needed. PM me if you are willing to help me.
Thanks again.
That's a good way.You could just go for a more simplistic approach and useHTML:<a href='mailto:[email protected]'>Contact Me</a>
£10? FacepalmI can do this for you. I'll talk you though everything as well for £10 if you're interested.
Hello, me again. PM me and I'll hook you up for free.I made my website and I just need to make my contact form to work. I need it to send the message to my email. Need simple help with that, I can give a vouch if needed. PM me if you are willing to help me.
But £10 for something you can literally search up on Google or find the information you would give on w3schools? That's not making money, it's extortion from this community my friend. You don't need to rip everyone else apart. Its hard making any money at all on MCM.
I don't think you understand the point of view I'm coming from. You are asking for a singlulae line, you would have charged him £10 just to explain it to him/her? This community is primarily made up of < 16 year olds who may not have access to those resources. It's extortion, given that he already has knowledge of html and CSS and seeing some of the projects he has done he would be easily able to understand. I am not devaluing your work nor being unprofessional, the price is just bit out of context and i don't really think you can charge for that. Just my opinion. Take as you will i will no longer further comment on this matter. You can copy and paste anything. But it'll take you an hour or so to work out how it works. I believe £10 is a good price for something you can learn in literally 10 minutes instead of an hour. If you can offer a better price, I don't have a problem. Its a competitive market, but there is no need to derail someone else. Its just petty, and unprofessional. I have not once commented on someone else's quote, just added my own. Just leave it at that, I feel a fair amount of the MCM community get way too caught up on these sort of things.
He isn't ripping anyone apart. The OP clearly does not want to pay, as they are willing to give a vouch in exchange for the service, not money. You don't need to rip everyone else apart. Its hard making any money at all on MCM.
I'm pretty sure i understand what i know, otherwise my 5+ years of web experience is clearly mistaken and obsolete. Not to mention you had quoted the simplistic idea approach and did not specify that for the price stated you would teach him how to make the contact form and any appropriate security measures incorporated into the design. Also i had not suggested the html solution, the member Glenjendary had. Also a PHP solution does reveal the email account, assuming the contact form will also send a email to the visitors email notifying them the query has been received (also before you say anything I know there are methods to mask it and instead put [email protected] instead of the actual email it came from). This may not be the case if instead there is a AJAX solution where the form would turn green or a alert would show saying the query has been received. I also can't believe your attempting to make me the bad guy here, and correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure you started the argument by accusing people of derailing your work? Also it's evident the op would rather not pay and instead vouch or just wanted some assistance as mathhulk said.I don't think you understand. PHP and HTML are almost completely different. The contact form I am offering is not a single line. I never said I'd just explain it either. I'd do it and explain how it works. The HTML solution you are suggesting makes you very vulnerable to email scrapers, as it is very easy to fine your email within the site. A PHP solution however does not reveal your email once to the client, therefore making it infinitely safer if you're not wanting to reveal that information. Also with a PHP solution you can use Googles reCaptcha to protect you from spam. PHP also creates a user friendly experience as its much easier for the user to send an email within the site.
Example: http://guruwebsites.org.uk/contact
If you want anymore examples of why this is a better, and more practical solution, I'd be happy to reply. Otherwise, I do not want to be associated with this petty argument you have me involved in.
Regards,
Jon
