Need help stopping player from crashing server.

I own a Minecraft UHC server, and whenever we host a match a player does some sort of "exploit" to crash the server. He showed me a video of him doing it and he opens up some sort of 3rd party program and sends in something to cause the server to crash. The console spams the same error: java.nio.channels.ClosedChannelException and it causes the server to crash (What i believe) I need someone to help me solve this issue and not allow this to be done. We have an active firewall and iptables but I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I hope you can solve it, if by chance you want to update, I recommend using

PaperSpigot You could use 1.8.8 to 1.12.2, at least I recommend 1.8.8

ViaVersion You have an image where it tells you if you need to use "ViaRewind" or "ViaBackWards"

If you are not interested in using PaperSpigot you can use compile the latest version with Spigot using BuildTools, this is the wikipedia etc

I'm not exactly sure what exploit is causing your server to crash but the "java.nio.channels.ClosedChannelException" just gets spammed because of the server crash. It's not the reason for it.
Does the server freeze for a little bit before crashing or does it just immediately crash once he does the exploit? Can you send me the video of them doing it?

I think it could be an exploit I've seen used on a server I used to own where they send a huge payload which gets handled by the main thread, freezing it, and causing the server to crash. I don't know of any plugins that can prevent this but we ran a custom Spigot dev'd by opuc and he was able to fix the problem within the Spigot so I would try contacting him and see if he has any solutions for you.
