Hey guys, i'm working on uploading a portal to a website and i'm having trouble. I've got the portal off the internet and uploaded the contents to the public_html folder. I'm not sure if that is all I have to do for it to work or is there another step? It still redirects to:

XXX.XX.XXX.XXX/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi

I'm not asking for a paid worker to fix this, i'm just asking for some assistance as i'm not too good with web hosting and such.

PebbleHost

Have you got your domain setup?

No, i've been trying to view the website with it's IP. Is this a problem?
Well normally with shared hosting (webhosting sites) it would do the cgi-bin shit. So you need a domain to the hosting.

Alright, so It's a lot better now. The domain is working and directs to the web server, but I have my portal in the public_html folder, and when I type in domainname.com/portal, it works fine, but when I just do domainname.com, it doesn't display properly?

Is the portal in a folder called 'portal'?

That should fix your /portal problem.

Ok great, it fixed it. I plan to add forums and other pages to the site as well, so if I put a folder in there called 'forum,' will it affect the portal in any way? Will the site try and redirect to the forum instead?

No it shouldn't affect the portal in anyway.
