Any distro of linux works fine, it's mainly up to your personal preference.

Personally I would recommend Ubuntu, its one of the simplest, and generally the most commonly used. Therefor its easier to find help for it.

Any will work. I've done fine using CentOS6 over the years but I have also used Debian a couple times and Ubuntu. Hire someone to install Multicraft, AND secure the server, if you are unsure of what you are doing. Security is something that should not be overlooked in a Multicraft installation.
