$2/GB is cheap :p

DDOS protection & Dedicated support.

$8 is expensive holy shit. Bro take a chill pill no one will buy that.
Our customers are pretty happy with our offering. At $3/GB, even, we'd be making a huge loss. Our servers alone cost us more, put staff, wages, services and other costs on top of that and we make bare profit per GB of RAM. We offer a quality service, not something you get from Wholesale Internet or OVH or something along the likes. We use premium providers, offer experienced support and have a custom panel and new infrastructure rolling out as of next month. It's not cheap for us to operate.

Regardless, we and many other similar hosts don't have the biggest problem getting clients. The base we target (real server owners looking to offer their players the best service, and don't mind paying some more money, which is still trivial, to ensure their players have a good experience, leading to sales for themselves - it's a loop) seem very happy to pay the price for quality and peace of mind.

The highest is $10/GB by McProHosting. You're not far off the mark bud.
$12/gb https://cubedhost.com

I've seen some nice hosts go to $14/gb as well, they're still around and pumping. However, generally these days I would say $10/gb is a maximum, some hosts have pulled off $12/gb successfully. Different types of clients will pay different amounts. Anything above $5/gb will generally struggle in today's market. As Mike mentioned, it's changed a lot. Competition has driven the prices down, but also the acceptable quality level. DDoS protection today is improved, but I can't lie and say performance is any better (as it generally should be with time).

Edit: By the way, lots of people seem to think that because MCProHosting sells at $10/gb and it is the top earning host, no other host can sell at $10/gb. That's wrong. MCProHosting is cheaper to run, their hardware is larger in bulk as far as I remember and a lot of their money goes into partnerships.

A lot of hosts are more expensive to run than MCProHosting.
