Hello there, I gathered some money from selling builds so I want to invest some in my "education". I want to upgrade my current web designer and developer skills with a new and legit knowledge. I have $30 in my budget so anything below that would be great. I already know some basics and some advanced topics of HTML and CSS and a bit of JavaScript, but when I make websites it never works out like I imagine it or I have a problem with the website so I need to change the layout or design to make the website work. I also have problems with making my website so it has a responsive layout. Here are some of my website that I've made before for some clients (www.amirdesign.top), I want to start making websites for money, but I can't because I'm not confident enough to handle a real project for money. If you can give me some lessons PM me your prices, your websites that you've made and how will you teach me. I don't have a microphone so I can't talk to you, I can only listen.

Goals I want to get at the end of the lessons:

~ Be comfortable with HTML and CSS
~ Learn basics of JavaScript and jQuery and learn some tricks to implement in my website (slideshow, animated buttons, some custom animations . . .)
~ Get a feel for website design (design better/more beautiful websites)
~ Make my responsive website where I can do websites for others

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I would highly advise against paying someone, at least on here, for this. There are so many public resources, more than I can count right now, to teach you everything you want to learn. As for the issues with sites not turning out how you want, that's.. well.. web design. You will encounter problems like that all the time and the best thing to do is just keep trying and keep practicing.

I would like a very experienced guy that can point out my mistakes that I make and to introduce me to the step-by-step way of making the website and the actual design of the website. I wanted to use Treehouse, but I can't use them because I need a Credit Card which I don't have so I decided on this option.

Every thread that pops up like this you post a reply similar to this. Mentors are a thing. I learned basically everything I know from mentors. Look at anyone that's successful in something. I can almost guarantee that they've had a mentor before.

Huh.. you'd think there's a reason I post it then, right? Yes mentors are a thing and can be beneficial but mentoring =/= paying for direct instructions step by step and being spoon-fed on how to do something. At the end of the day it is 100% his decision how he wants to learn, however I and many others I know learned the same way - just by trying and using free resources. I personally feel the reason he wants someone to help him is because he isn't reaching the quality in his sites that he wants right now, as he mentioned above, but I also feel he's not reaching that quality because he isn't grasping the fact that you don't learn overnight and you don't do everything perfect right away. It takes time and practice and eve with years and years of experience you still make mistakes. Again, it was just my opinion, as web design is one of the , if not the easiest, things to learn compared to development/other design. On top of that, notice how I said "at least on here"(mcm). Most people on mcm, while there are good and experienced designers, aren't gonna be ideal for teaching someone. And those who will want to take their time to teach are most likely not going to be as experienced as documentation or people who have been doing it 10+ years. Let me state again, this is just my opinion - I think he's overthinking the process right now and trying to rush to perfection.

Have a nice day :)

You make some good points. You don't need to be mentored by someone with 10+ years of experience though. You just need to be mentored by someone that surely knows more than you. Also, a lot of people I know (that you also know) have learned a lot from asking questions to other members here. The person answering their questions is effectively mentoring them. I'm sure Amir isn't expecting to get someone with years and years of experience (if he is then he could be expecting to spend him budget per hour), he's just looking for help.

The only reason I posted is because when I've browsed threads like this in the past you've instantly posted the same stuff.

The main reason I post this is just to give people an idea that they don't always need to pay people but I've seen people in the past be scammed by "experienced" designers/developers who say they want to teach and then rip people off.

Guys, please don't argue. I wanted to take lessons because I don't have anything else to spend my money on. I have money on my unverified PayPal, don't have a bank account nor a Credit Card so I can't do anything specific with the money so I decided to invest the money in education. I wanted to use Treehouse, but I need a verified account on PayPal and a Credit Card so I decided on this option. slooth I respect your opinion and I understand your point. Callam I saw that you gave lessons in one of your threads, are you doing that now?

I don't currently don't do online lessons. As for the Treehouse situation, it would be beneficial for you to try and find a way past it (maybe get someone to purchase it for you). I've used Treehouse a while back, it's good.
