Hi,

I see a lot of people’s resources getting leaked including some of my own, in which the user has been banned for doing so. The user had 0 posts, 0 reactions and really only bought resources to leak them.

My proposal is, a user should have to have X amount of X (likes, reactions, something else) in order to purchase a resource or even a setting for authors to enable/disable this feature.

I think it’d prevent a lot of leaks and most authors would appreciate it. Obviously, this isn’t going to stop it fully, but it’s a start.

that is why you make it like the loan section, they need to be registered for a certain amount of time.
well, a moron could spam retarded shit and get fuckloads of funny reactions, so basing it in reactions wouldn't work...
Or make few options such as rep, ratings, posts or register date that the author can choose from while posting the resource and the requirements don't appear to anyone else except the author

Wouldn't take that much coding to copy and paste the requirements from other sections.
(Obv more than just copy/paste, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
If they wanted to limit it for everyone all they would need to do is an automatic user group promotion after the user reached their limit. They’d have to disable “Purchase a Resource” permission for the first group but then allow it on the promoted group. Not sure if they already set up MCM like that, but if not that’s kind of out of the picture as they’d have to change a lot of accounts’ groups.

A lot of my resource purchases are fresh people, and last time I looked, 0 leaks. So I have no issues rn xD

That’s good for your sake. But developers who have worked on their plugins and what not and put effort into it, only come to find out it’s been leaked by someone who just signed up are fed up.

I totally understand your point, just was saying it doesnt happen to everyone. However there are TONS of leaked plugins / resources. So I see why a system is needed.

I've already got this listed in my plans for our resource system's improvement:
User criteria for resource purchases, such as:

- Days registered
- Post count
- Purchased resources count
- Positive rep count
- Donation rank
- Warning points?
- Reaction count?
Manual purchase approval option.

The criteria will be set by the author per resource should they choose to add criteria.

I would disagree with this because around half the people that purchase my resource just created their account.
I could see why others want it though, so as long as there's an option to disable it, it should be fine.

Yeah, but, your resources are also leaked over forums now. Is it due to someone with high reputation or someone that just created an account? Have your choice, but I would assume it's someone new.

Although I agree this would cut revenue in half, would it not?

What?
That's like cutting my sales in half. Also, you don't really have proof that someone high rep didn't leak.
Back when I would only get like 1 leak a month, the people always had a pfp a few messages etc. It wasn't like they were complete newbies.

I'd rather be able to track who downloaded a resource, via a placeholder like spigot or a custom page displaying all users who downloaded X version, and just disable their license. Why over-complicate it with extra requirements when some users come from Spigot and make an account just to purchase a resource?

It's really doing more harm than good though. If someone that just registered bought your resource and leaked it, hundreds or thousands of people can now download it. Think of all the money you lost. I would rather lose $10 than a resource be leaked and lose $100 or more.

I am telling you this from experience. You will make less than half the revenue if you stop new-ish members from purchasing.
You can ask all the other big resource sellers, and I'm sure they'll stand by my point.

You don't realize just how much impact new members have on this forum.
