Hello!

I need help with choosing the right dedicated server for my needs.
Im looking to host alteast 300players.
Run 4 game servers, 1 hub server and ofcourse the bungee.

The plugins are quite big, and I also have a different maps.

I need to choose wether Im going for Linux or windows.
And what operating system I should do- Debian and Ubuntu Is what I have been recommended.

Do I need SSD? Should my priority be CPU or HDD? What should I think about?

Anyone that has any experience?

Please add me on discord Warren#2793

Hello Popdudle,

Sounds to me like you're trying to host a big Minecraft Network. I currently have a large Minecraft client using our dedicated machines to run a 200-500 player count Minecraft Bungee Network. If you are open to U.S. hosting, I'd be more than happy to assist you with a server, one on one support, and I'll even take care of all the backend server setup needed for your Minecraft Network. I can even install a control panel, such as Pterodactyl, for you to easily control your servers from a web interface rather than using Screen over the command line.

Now to answer a few of your questions.
I need to choose wether Im going for Linux or windows.
And what operating system I should do- Debian and Ubuntu Is what I have been recommended.
Choosing between the two, I would choose Linux. Linux uses less overhead than Windows allowing you to get the most performance out of your machine. I'd personally install Debian as it is more lightweight but Ubuntu works well to. In fact, it's actually built off of Debian.

Do I need SSD? Should my priority be CPU or HDD? What should I think about?
Your priority for the Network should be a CPU with strong single core performance, around 6 to 8 cores at a minimum, and I'd say an SSD is a priority for your use case. That said, there are two main types of SSDs: NVMe and normal Sata SSD. NVMe perform better for random IO, reading, and writing compared to traditional Sata SSDs.

If you have any more questions, or you would like to discuss things further, add me on Discord: MaGiiK#2635 At the very least I hope this post was informative for you.

All the best,
MaGiiK.
