Hi creators,
Our category update is here!
For the past 4 weeks, we've had 50% of users switch over to this new layout to ensure that these changes enhance the browsing experience for buyers and don't hurt creator earnings. We now have the data to confirm that the new layouts not only maintain earnings, but we're seeing early signs that they could potentially increase earnings, so we're excited to bring these improvements to all of you.
We're encouraging all creators to check the categories your resources are in and update them to use our new filter options. We know it's a bit of a pain to do, but the single most impactful thing that any creator can do to increase your discoverability and earn more money is to ensure you've got every filter filled out correctly for all of your resources. If a relevant filter isn't selected, potential buyers might miss out on your resources. Conversely, applying too many irrelevant filters can negatively impact your rankings in our algorithm by lowering your conversion rate.
The best way to illustrate this is by showing that previously if you wanted to find a Survival plugin the URL looked like this:
Now it looks like this:
Google prefers this much more, especially now that we've got the page title magically updating to accurately describe the page as "Minecraft plugins for Survival servers" (Harry is a wizard for figuring out how to do this).
Over the coming months we're going to begin indexing combinations of several filters to target more specific search queries, such as "Medieval Minecraft Spawn builds for Hub & lobby servers", for even greater results. Doing this I expect we'll grow from 400 landing pages to potentially tens of thousands of pages for users to find your resources through with search engines like Google and LLMs like ChatGPT.

New discovery pages released
Our new discovery page layouts are now live across the platform, category, and results pages! This means the old layouts are officially retired. You've probably already seen these new layouts before, as we've been extensively testing them over the past 3 months. For the past 4 weeks, we've had 50% of users switch over to this new layout to ensure that these changes enhance the browsing experience for buyers and don't hurt creator earnings. New filters released
Over the past couple of months, we've added hundreds of new filter options across most of our categories. As the site grows we're trying to keep it as easy as possible for buyers to find the content they want without being overwhelmed with hundreds of pages of options. Once these new filter options are populated with resources, it'll make it better for buyers, but unfortunately, there's no practical way for us to add these new filters to your resources for you. We're encouraging all creators to check the categories your resources are in and update them to use our new filter options. 350+ new landing pages
Along with the cosmetic changes to the layout, this update has also come with significant work behind the scenes to programmatically generate new landing pages based on the filters available in each category. Until now we've had only 50 landing pages to discover resources from search engines (the category pages), and now we're indexing over 400 resource result pages (the filters in each category). The best way to illustrate this is by showing that previously if you wanted to find a Survival plugin the URL looked like this:
Code:
https://builtbybit.com/resources/categories/minecraft-plugins.1/?rf[mc_plugins_gamemode][0]=survival&rf[__config][plugin_type_new][match_type]=OR&rf[__config][mc_plugins_gamemode][match_type]=OR
Now it looks like this:
Code:
