Hello mc-market users!

I thought on a new idea!

A forum that people can post in all of their services.
For example, I own a building + designs service, so I will open a new thread and post the links in it.

That can help to people who dont want to fill up their signature with too many links.
only one link and they will be teleported to the portal thread with all the links :)

Good thinking but this isn't a useful suggestion. I'll explain why, in my opinion.

What you're asking for is a listing of the services a user provides. A centralised list the user can update. This completely defies the industry theory. When I want to buy a plugin, I usually look at the plugins forum and choose from there. If I want a build, I go into the builds forum and look from there. I could not name you a single builder. So what use will it be to look at user threads that you don't know to see if they do building when a builds forum exists?

The only use of this is if a user produces quality services and you want to see what other work they do to buy from them, but this list is not useful, can often be outdated and this forum will simply be spammed. If you want to see the services a user offers, go to their profile and look at their threads. A manual forum for listings like this is not useful.

The reasons why signatures are used is for maximum exposure, not to make a list of services offered by a user. That's why people don't list all services they offer in their signature.

It's a good thought though, but its implementation will be sketchy at best, and the feature will not be useful.
It will maybe not be used by you. but it will be used by me and I am sure that by many others.
It shouldnt hurt you so I dont understand why you disagree. Simply if you dont wanna use this feature then dont.

people wonder why I'm not polite more often

I think you fail to understand some basic things about how new features are implemented. It's not only about how many people will use it, it is about the benefit to the users, the gain represented in terms of the cost, and future sustainability.

It does not meet any of these conditions in a way that says "yes" to this suggestion:
  • This add-on has little benefit to buyers. They want a build, they will not search for the names of good builders then find their service thread (then realise it's out of date and go to their profile anyway to see a list of their services). If they have a good experience with a builder in the past or have been referred, they will go through their profile.
  • This add-on will build some hype most likely. A bunch of sellers will make threads, buyers will not really care about them, and sellers will update them for a limited period until either: A) they get bored of updating them, B) the hype dies out, C) they realise they are useless and do A.
  • This will inevitably become a useless, spammed forum attracting little consumer interest. Similar to most of the forums in this category: http://www.mc-market.org/discussion/

As far as hurt and disagree goes, that's just the most retarded thing I've heard all day. People said that stuff about Germany rebuilding their army prior-WW2 and look what happened. What you're saying is because one kid likes an idea, it should be added and this forum will end up with a ton of useless features that confuses new customers that join this forum even more. There is a reason 15 year olds don't make important decisions, because they're too impulsive and can't think long term or even short term properly.

People seem to have trouble understanding analogies. I guess you haven't learnt about them yet.

It's also funny how, like everyone else on this site, you argue with me over principle. You can't respond and discuss the original point.
