I would assume it is because more people visit the Minecraft website instead of the Mojang website when looking for help and it is probably easier to maintain when all in one place?
Probably kids would be looking for the “Minecraft” name if they are looking for support. It likely clears a lot of confusion since some kids might not know about Mojang or the name, and wouldn’t trust that domain as much.
