Hey guys. This is going to go into the sea of posts about the reputation system changes, so this will probably get lost. Well, anyway, here's what I'm proposing:

If Mick wants to have a reputation system for deals only, then create a separate system from the current reputation system. (Or just revert it the way it was... that works too.)

The current reputation system is defined as "Reputation is defined as what beliefs/opinions a community holds of a person." (Quote taken from the alert when a reputation point was posted by a member that is currently banned.) Reputation, in my opinion, should be a spot that shows the general opinion of a user on MC-Market. This means that you could post a reputation on a friend's account simply because you have known them for a while and they are a solid person. It is not related to a deal in any way, but it reflects the general opinion of the user. If a person has a 50% or lower rep, then you could say that the general population of MC-Market dislikes a user. It should have no coloration of their past deals.

If Mick wants to make a new system for deals only, then the best way to go about that is to make an entirely new system. While making a new system would be daunting for many community members that have hundreds of reputation points, the only other alternative is letting a good portion of your reputation points get deleted since you do not have proof of any of the deals.

In my opinion, a good idea to make a smooth addition of the system is to add a new button when viewing your reputation points. It should sit next to the "Report" button, and should be called something like "Select for Transfer". If a user clicks that button, it gets sent to the moderators similar to how regular reputation reports go. The moderators can review the reputation point to make sure a deal took place, then they can move it over to the new system.

tl;dr | If Mick is 100% going to make the reputation system only for deals, then it would be best for the community to make a new system for deals only.

P.S. | This is a shot in the dark and my first suggestion. I am in no way claiming to be an active, reputable, or well-known member on the forums. I'm just giving my opinion about the reputation system. Also, this entire post is based on if he decides to go through with the plan he has already laid out. Have a good day :)

Back about a year ago we introduced some pretty radical changes to the way that we handle reputation. We made all reputation left by banned members be marked as uncounted in your reputation totals and disabled the reporting functionality to reduce abuse and targeted. The changes that we made were certainly controversial at the time, but looking back I'm a firm believer that the changes we made back then were the best that we could have made.

Our reputation system is very far from being perfect in its current state, and we fully recognise that. Since it's introduction we've changed many policies and spent countless hours developing new custom systems, such as disputing feedback.

At the moment we aren't planning to do any more development for our site until we can migrate to XF2. We're also not going to be making any changes to our policies surrounding reputation. Our system is stable at the moment, and making a change now when we're going to be redeveloping everything shortly isn't beneficial. Perhaps once we move to XF2 and have fixed all the bugs that come with that and have more time for some new development and to consider the impact that instituting new policies will result in.

Until then, I'll move this to denied. Once we migrate to XF2 if you feel that this is still relevant please create a new suggestion thread and we can look into it once again. Thank you to everyone for your support and criticism of our systems, it is definitely the best way for us to improve.

Thank you,
