Visible to everyone or just the user who "pinned it"?
Because if you want it to be visible to everyone, that will look incredibly spammy to see random advertisements and possibly silly messages/things nobody cares about or wants to see.

Even then with the amount of supreme users, there would be way too many messages pinned.
They'd be posted way too frequently and people would just use them instead of buying ads.
Plus from what I heard, the chat addon is a pain to customize because every update it would have to be redone.

Firstly, I don't believe this should be a supreme perk. Let's move off that idea.
However. If there were a non-obtrusive expand option for shoutbox page specific purchasable ads, one that defaults to collapsed; and the amount of ads that could be purchased was limited to something reasonable, I see this being a very decent idea.
Though the way it was originally suggested was poor and it has now gathered a bit of steam as a bad idea. It's not one that can't be re-worked to suit everyone's desires.
Priority being on those not wanting to see ads not having to deal with them at all.
Then allowing those wanting a place to spend money storing their ads publicly, at least for a time, the option to do so.
$5 for 24 hours of placement in an adbox that defaults to collapsed.
Easily accessible above chat for anyone interested or at least curious who's paid for one that day.
I do agree that MC-Market needs more to offer its members that are wanting to subscribe/repeat payments for features.
Too much of what we offer is a one time payment, and that means we're relying on new members who don't have upgrades yet to keep us running.
Purchasable ads for members within our marketplace, especially considering we are a marketplace, is the best thing we can offer our current and already upgraded users.

This seems like an interesting idea that we can look further into, but the main suggestion here isn't something that we're interested in for all of the reasons stated in other comments.
