New vouch/review system

I believe this "ratings = reputation" system is stupid. montyburly nara~kavi and a few others, feel free to reject this but I can assure you that just because a higher rating person deals with a lower rating person, doesn't mean that the higher rating won't scam if the lower goes first. Its just stupid

The concern about posting "Vouch" with little to no detail is a post farm concern. Here is my suggestion:

MCM needs to enforce a strict and detailed review system of a 0 - 5 star rating with the following categories:
- Quality
- Speed
- Professional Appearance

And include the final work such as an "artwork" in the vouch at the bottom. Each category should be rated 0 - 5 with a minimum of 5 sentences describing how that seller or service provider is graded on that.

If not artwork and instead is a plugin config or jar, simply post an several images of the plugin working to your liking with imgur or something.

Yes this will be more time consuming, but its the safest way to make official review/vouch posts instead of sometimes random/paid "Vouch". Lets forget about the stupid "rating = reputation" because high rating people have scammed before, lets just get over that. MCM needs to manage its community as effectively as spigotMC and yes spigot does not allow most things to be sold on their forums like MCM does.

Asking for people to vouch on your services thread works for me, and everyone else. Those are vouches and they represent business deals or recommendations. Not needed and very few people recognize ratings as reputation as you've stated.

They simply mean you've been active a little more, probably sold some stuff which you can look through their posts for..it's just logical for lower rating users to scam, are they going to spend months building something up to scam a small amount of money? No, and users with a certain number of ratings also have scammed (amaraone) but this new system doesn't really solve anything.

what happens when its too late, and that "idiot" doesn't do their research and gets scammed. Are you saying they deserved to get scammed for not doing their "homework" ?

Buying/selling things online and those people DON'T check up on the person they're dealing with? It's common sense, let them learn the hard way if they must. Literally takes 2 minutes to check someone's profile and determine if they're a trustworthy user of the site, if they're a normal user or that they have a bad reputation, regardless of ratings.

I love Spigot as a whole even though I'm not really active there, more of a lurker. I don't think Spigot in terms of a market is comparable, although they just moderate things in general much more efficiently.

If you post a services thread on Spigot, it MUST have the required criteria before being posted. All services posts are reviewed by their services staff as well. Works pretty well.

In conclusion, I don't think this is needed, won't change much. To stop people getting scammed...it's literally difficult to get scammed in a majority of situations at this stage with so much information in front of you with a few clicks if people weren't obnoxious when it came to buying and selling goods here, preventing scams or knowing what to do in a situation where you think something isn't correct.

I honestly think my suggestion is more practical because instead of having to spend more time, it's up to the author to decide who get's to vouch, similar to HF. http://www.mc-market.org/threads/47619/

That's not true. Since people already consider ratings to be rep, it wouldn't be much different. A new user can rate spam as it is right now to look trustworthy and scam someone. This system has been in place for so long and that has rarely happened. When it does happen, it's really easy to see that the ratings were not legitimate.

mmm I guess. I just resent the idea of a point system because its basically just ratings, but a little "different". My idea focuses heavily on hand typed words of legitamate reviews. Yes it takes longer to make, but I happen to care about those "idiots" of not doing their research. 1 scam is 1 scam too much for MCM. MCM is a unique place, just like spigot and is really fun. unfortunately its hated/labeled as a "black market" for MC related things, and one of them is scams are just too often here.

I was the biggest scammer on this site, it's not "easy for me to say" building a whole new rep wasn't easy. Please don't jump into conclusions when you don't even know.

If that was the past, its clear you've changed. Just look at your awesome 4k ratings. Who wouldn't want to go first xP

Yes, hand-written vouches are better, but the fact is that not everyone will take the time to write them. If they want to, they can. They just have to comment in the thread and give a detailed review of what they just bought. If they don't feel like doing that or don't think it's necessary, they can simply leave a vouch rating.
