Mick has brought this up with the staff team before; I'd like to share my response:

I don’t feel like there’s quite enough *relevant* information to cover in these sort of news letters. Especially if we’re doing them so frequently. Most of the stuff they’d end up containing would have to be scraped together just to get the content long enough to warrant a post. Which I don’t feel we should be doing.

Perhaps if we got a really decent outline of what we would be posting, something that we could rely on to consistently get us material worth associating with MC-Market, then I could get behind it. Otherwise, it’ll likely die off and be ignored like all of the unofficial attempts at making a successful newsletter.
Recent significant bans is one thing we could include, assuming there were any. That’s one. Active scam reports should not be advertised. Best services? How do we determine that? Last thing I’d like is for it to be something we pretty much pull out of our butts then get called out for favoritism. Especially if the “Best service” ends up repeatedly being the same person.

We already make an announcement every month when we announce changes.
A better solution to the transparency issue, would be that we simply go into more detail in our announcements. Even the maintenance ones.
For things that come out of the blue, like when addons were being removed, why not consider simply making a child forum in the announcements category for minor announcements, such as “Currently going through and removing suspected unnecessary addons, apologies for any changes in site functioning” like how we do with twitter(or should)?
Or even just making the forum a log of our twitter stuff, and updating the twitter with these things as well.

True transparency can’t be achieved unless the first gate to hold the knowledge is open with it, so it’s something that I don’t feel that the community can *successfully* do for us.

To summarize. I dislike the idea of a weekly news letter because honestly, there's not enough relevant stuff that always goes on in a week; and we already make an announcement every month with all the changes that normally get implemented at the same time as the announcement.

A better solution to transparency issues, I feel, would be to start using the twitter actively. (When was the last post?) To announce anything notable that happens prior to the monthly announcements, and have a subforum on site with the twitter logs for anyone who doesn't actively use twitter.

As Justis has said, rather than having a newsletter using the Twitter works great. I've been pretty active on the Twitter for the past month and I think we can all agree that this solved the problem (or at least I hope it can!). People can try to make their own newsletters, but I just don't see it working for MCM, we are pretty small in the general scheme of things.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
