On an old forum I used to browse they had a great weekly newsletter that gave the updates on the site, featured honorable new members, showed off popular threads of the week, bans, and other news on on the forum.

Writing the newsletter there was great fun and users appreciated it. I think it could be a good addition to inform people what's going on around the site. A team of around 5 people would each be assigned a section or two, and the newsletter could be posted in a separate forum.

Thanks for considering.

Another suggestion to make this site into hack forums! This becomes a general discussion more and more by the day.

No newsletter is needed for 'site happenings'. What a mess LOL...

At best, create a news team to talk about the MC market, some new things servers have brought out that are unique, a server/build/something spotlight, that kinda stuff. Don't create compiled articles, create posts and each post to be one topic. Add a new page, a homepage, with all these articles. AMS (XF system) would be perfect for this, it's very advanced and flexible.

This would be similar to what minecraftforum.net is doing - except they report news on Minecraft. You could report news on the MC market and different aspects of it.

That's pretty much what I had in mind.

I see. Your post layout and responses made it seem like you wanted a recreation of HF news. You talked about site news, that's a nono. There's an announcements section. A weekly dramatic instalments of site news isn't needed... for obvious reasons.

When I was Admin on MCM, I started writer applications. People were able to apply as a writer and if they got accepted in to the team, they'd be a official writer.

Weekly update/news threads would be written in high quality. These threads would mostly contain official information from MCM itself. I didn't have any plans to include much usercontent like noteworthy threads or important bans or whatever. My idea was to create a bridge between the users and staff.

However for some reason Mick completely disbanded my idea. It was a part of my plan to bring more transparency to the site.

I was really sad to see this just get removed like that as much thought and planning was put in to it by me and Chris.

Probably because when I asked you said that you wouldn't tell me.

We'll look into this and work out a way to potentially start it at new year or (most likely) later.

I personally don't think my opinion matters much towards the staff team.

Yes, because it's an absolutely stupid idea. Nobody cares what's happening on MCM. Oh, a moderator bought a new puppy, great! Start a chit chat thread. It's got nothing to do with news.

If you want news, do it on the industry, the market. Don't compile editions and make it some messed up fantasy, just do separate news posts for separate things on separate days, like normal people do.

God, the logic in this forum is so flawed I almost give up trying to hope people realise how flawed it is. Then again, if you want a general discussion forum, go for it.

Don't speak for the entire forum. Some people spend their entire day on here. They would love to know what's happening or what's planned.

Oh, a moderator bought a new puppy, great!

If you stop being ignorant and actually read my reply:
update/news
And
contain official information
So no, if a mod got a new puppy it wouldn't be included in the news edition.

Don't compile editions and make it some messed up fantasy

Having a edition instead of seperate posts makes members look forward to something. I very rarely check the announcement section because sometimes there are 2 posts a week there, sometimes it's only 1 a month.

God, the logic in this forum is so flawed I almost give up trying to hope people realise how flawed it is.

Your brain is fucking flawed. If you don't like the mindset of the forum, please log out and never log in again.
Your pretending like you've been around for months. This forum lacks transparency. Many changes happen weekly and these weekly threads would be a perfect way to address those. They don't have to be extremely long . They have to be something to keep members up to date.

There's an announcements section on that. If you spend 12 hours on here, your parents really need to tell you to get some air.

Basically, you're suggesting HF News becoming MCM News. Your suggestion is fucking ridiculous.

I never realised MCM went from Minecraft marketplace to general discussion forum to press and newspaper editorials.

Well, suggest more announcements? lol..

Who knows, maybe I have. The forum doesn't need transparency. This is meant to be a damn marketplace, and as far as I see no suggestions except the portfolio one that was overlooked entirely even suggests becoming a marketplace, it suggests becoming into HF. I can't tell you what this forum is, but I'm sure Mick can:

MC-Market.org is the home of Minecraft trades and sales, since August 2014. You've arrived at the #1 Minecraft Marketplace for domains, servers, plugins, hosting, advertising, websites and services.

If you want to tell me this is a general discussion forum, that'd make my previous 27 posts null, void and make me look like an idiot. However, if you want to tell me this is a Minecraft marketplace, you look like an absolute fool.

Publish updates when required. Better yet, one announcement thread could announce 4-5 changes, which is what happens right now. MCM News is the most stupid and dramatic thing to be suggested since... 80% of the threads in this section. It's a shame they all get overlooked. Not one reply or comment or vote on the portfolio idea, which actually makes this a marketplace, but a bunch of replies to assist trolling and making a general discussion forum.

If MCM wants to change its focus now, I'm sure another owner will love to take the role of a Minecraft marketplace. Thing about general discussion forums is, the majority of them fail. They have no set purpose. Members come to troll and "have fun" (like there isn't a world with enough people to make friends and have fun...) and eventually it gets boring and they move on. Hack forums is a general discussion forum, but there's a few reasons why it's still alive. The 1000 spinoffs last about 2-5 months before closing unexpectedly, leaving members to wonder where their purchased awards and groups went.

Either way kiddo, you can't win. Your logic is seriously flawed, the main principles behind this idea are majorly flawed. I suggested a way to make this idea relevant to Minecraft marketplaces above, looks like you have no interest in industry news. Looks like you only want a HF news spinoff for MCM.

https://www.digitalpoint.com/ - Webmasters and marketplace, primarily, industry news as the homepage. They didn't become one of the top XenForo forums and one of, if not the, top webmaster/marketplace forum for no reason.

http://www.digitalspy.com/ - industry news, to tie in with their forums, biggest UK television/entertainment forum

http://www.minecraftforum.net/ - Biggest Minecraft forum, industry news.

http://hackforums.net - A forum filled with pre-pubescent teens. The forum is strictly frowned down upon, no hacking related discussion has happened there since 2009.

Take your pick.

I don't see what's wrong with having a newsletter. I think this is a good suggestion.

It's not worth arguing about guys. ^_^

I edited my post, go ahead and read it.

BTW is that all you can say? My knowledge on the industry is irrelevant to becoming a multi accounter. I do not participate in discussions here other than suggestions, and that is simply to provide my input in them. I have a business account here which is only used for business and hasn't been used since Jan 2015 or so. This is a personal account, and it was allowed by the previous owner.

Another funny term you use is 'multiaccounter'. You know what, you need to go back to hack forums, unless you got banned from there. Who I am or where I come from or what my name is is irrelevant to my points stated above, to which you have no reply.

Is that all you can say in response to me? I find you absolutely hilarious. It's 5PM buddy, time to make some friends! :)[DOUBLEPOST=1451147376,1451147314][/DOUBLEPOST]

A marketing newsletter would make sense to me also, strictly about the industry. My disagreement isn't with concept or idea, it's strictly with the principles and that is MCM news, that's irrelevant. It's about the industry, not the forum.

Nobody cares about what's happening on Mc-Market. Except dozens of drama driven users who question everything.[DOUBLEPOST=1458586386][/DOUBLEPOST]This could be nice though. It could help prevent future updates that could cause an uproar in the community.

People who question everything? What do you mean by that? What do you mean Nobody cares what happens on mc-market? Who are the dozens of drama driven users? Is today monday?
Well go look at some of our suggestion threads. People questioned the reaction update until it finally got reverted. Now people are questioning and complaining about not having all their reactions before the revert happened. Also, people do care about Mc-Market. I just restated what Overlord has previously stated and followed it up with how most people are driven on here.

Today is Friday by the way. No joke at all :)

I like the idea a lot, and if you really want a news team there's nothing stopping you from forming a news team yourself and posting it in the 'General Discussion' Section.
