Hello,

So I have setup ubuntu and am running some very small websites for homepages and stuff like that. I have an interesting problem though. My domain is bushnet.us

When I go to www.bushnet.us or any subdomain I have setup everything works.
When I got to bushnet.us it times out.

The server blocks seem to be configured correctly.

Would anyone be willing to fix this for me? I don't have a huge budget, but I am willing to pay if you teach me what I screwed up :)

Works for me here. Try clearing your DNS cache.

Interesting... it works from any connection but my lan... I cleared the DNS cache on my local machine and the ubuntu server... any ideas?

I was able to reach it from my cellphone just like you said... Also, if i put up a hotspot with my phone it works as well...

Definitely DNS cache then, there's no need to clear it on the ubuntu server since the server is not the own that is going to access the website, it just serves it. For your last reluctant machine give it a reboot and the cache should be cleared and you should be able to access the website correctly again.

That sadly did not work... I think its gotta something with my lan... anything connected to this wifi network can't get to it. Even this machine. If I connect it to a different wifi network it works great...

Restart your router, I'm pretty sure the router's the one with the bad cache, once the router restarted, restart your local machine again, then try connecting to it and it shall work.

Clear your browsers cache of the page. The browser saves a parts of a page to increase loading times, etc.

still no luck...

Signal Flow

Main Router ---> Good Router ---> UnRaid Server ---> Ubuntu VM running server

I reboot each router and the UnRaid Server to see if there was anything on the virtual switch and nothing... I also reboot my local machine after all of the routers...

Try pinging the domain in your command line to check if the IP resolves correctly, if it doesn't, you'll want to check your DNS servers and set them to google's by preference if it isn't google's yet (Google offers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

Might be specific to your setup here, I'm not exactly sure what would be causing it to fail but not knowing the exact workings of your network I cannot help you further, at least I'm happy I could tell you that your lan is the only one failing and that you should focus on it instead of focusing on the web server, good luck resolving your issue :p

Thank you for all of the help! Actually, the issue was incorrect subnetting... I was using a 10 address which is typically class a and breaking up between several networks using devices not really meant for that...

I switched to several class c ranges and it works great with the equipment... I guess household level equipment somewhat ignores subnets ?!?

Try and find many houses with subnets, if you find one, then honestly congratulations :p
Glad you fixed the issue though.
