I believe there should be a rule in place to not allow arguing in Shoutbox. I come in the Shoutbox to have decent conversations -- be semi social, and I can't even talk because two idiots are arguing and making the chat move faster than I can watch it. If two idiots want to argue on a forum, then bring it into a PM, or add each other on Skype -- but don't deprive me of the Shoutbox, and make myself stressed. I understand people like to debate, but don't take over a public Shoutbox for your meaningless argument. Thanks -- what do you think?

Some of us, like myself battle with anxiety, and it isn't always the best mentally to be surrounded by arguments, as it does take a toll on me. I am fine with small arguments, but I am sick of not being able to even use the shoutbox because it is too crowded with the argument, or it is moving too fast. No reason to be a dick about it -- I am happy to hear others thoughts, but there is a way to say it..
Thats what mineblast is for. Jxor

I would just like to clarify...
So essentially the problem is not that they are arguing, but that they're talking too fast for you?
If so, I'll try harder to talk nice and slow for you next time, but I would encourage that you get some faster fingers/eyes.

Or maybe the problem is..

That you don't feel welcome in the argument. Like you have no stance. No opinion... Like YOU don't matter in the conversation, and therefore the conversation doesn't matter to you, and that's what ticks you off...

If that's the case, I'd like to gently remind you that conversations that other people are engaged in are not always of relevance to you... Sometimes two, three, four+ people are discussing something programming related, and maybe you don't know anything about programming, so you don't engage, or maybe we're going back and fourth about cars/sports/sports-cars, and maybe you don't give two shets, so you don't involve yourself.... Just don't involve yourself.
I know there's been plenty of times where Mick's talking with some people in chat, and I just wait, because not every discussion can just be jumped in on... It's all about give and take.

If you'd like to try getting people to talk about something you'd like to talk about... Go for it.
But don't get salty just because they're paying attention to a subject instead of you.

I understand is is not about me, I never said it was (don't put words in my mouth boy). I am just sick of people arguing in a shoutbox -- I have the right to as much as everyone else. I would like to be able to talk with other people, and not have to search the chat frantically because someone is arguing and making the chat move faster than I can read it, and essentially spamming it. No one give a fuck on your argument, hence there is two or three people ONLY arguing (if it is a group argument, I am fine with that because everyone is participating, and no one is being annoyed by the argument). People are always trying to break up arguments in the shoutbox.. you really think people like to listen to it? Fuck no, so fuck off. You are trying to make it sound like I AM the selfish one, when really it is you and the other people who argue 24/7, because you have no consideration for others. Don't get salty with me boi.[DOUBLEPOST=1446234296,1446234189][/DOUBLEPOST]
There is never 30 members there talking in the first place? More than 80% of people in shoutbox always AFK or just read chat. So the few people that are there try to create conversations and arguments. Let them... I don't see an issue with it. Now if you start insulting each other or causing an issue, then it's a different story.

I am talking about the abusive "bashing" one another arguments, it is annoying.[DOUBLEPOST=1446234402][/DOUBLEPOST]
There should be more rules made for the shoutbox because sometimes it's just a huge mess.

+1 from me on this.

Thank you :)[DOUBLEPOST=1446234445][/DOUBLEPOST]
+1 Cuz some people are just so annoying when they argue.

Exactly! Thanks!

There's a difference between flaming the chat and having an opinionated conversation and that's what I think you need to focus on differentiating between in your OP.

i think there should be a public shoutbox that is moderated and a premium shoutbox that is not
Why would the premium one not be moderated? This issue and other happen in the premium chat, hi because someone pays 10$ does not mean they are trusted

Having an opinionated conversation as fine, as the shoutbox is there to discuss your feelings/have low key debates, but I do not like flaming the chat, to the point where a bunch of people are annoyed, and trying to break up the argument. Thanks for clarifying B^)

I think what is being suggested here is that there shouldn't be any flame wars going on in the shoutbox. Debating is okay, as long as it isn't extreme to the point where others are being disrespected or hated on.

but say some guy came on and said he believes that it is okay to rape girls or children. 0_o? should we have a "civil mannerly" discussion to debate that? Not flame at this obvious wrong?

I would fail to see that being civil. Regardless, I don't believe that the MCM shoutbox is the place for that sort of discussion. I think you're taking this suggestion a little to the extreme.

True i am being extreme, but its for the case study if there's a flame war.

If you're doing a "study", pick something a little more realistic.
Very well. what about politics. Some people are very extreme for liberal democrats or conservative republicans. Their views constantly clash, and with people like donald trump it starts huge arguments and "flame wars"

If it gets to the point where people are being disrespectful to one another, I would say that would be the time the conversation should leave the shoutbox. There shouldn't be flame wars at all in the shoutbox.

I think you're missing that it starts in the shoutbox. If you're arguing with someone, you don't think to yourself "Hmm, I should PM this guy". People just keep arguing until a staff member stops them or one of the people arguing gives up. The point is that you can't prevent arguments from being started.

I agree that it is hard to prevent people from starting arguments. This won't do anything to prevent that. That doesn't mean it should be allowed to continue at a certain point.

You differ the term "arguments" in shoutbox.

If it's a debate of something that's better than the other, that's fine. (Aka Black Ops 3 and Starwars Battlefront)

If it's a debate between users fighting to disrespect each other, that is NOT allowed.
