Now, I'm sure just like me most people are starting to get a little (lol) annoyed by these "Skyblock Hypixel Coins 0.5/mil" threads. Now, in some cases yeah there is a better solution. However, we need a clear message to new users that it just isn't allowed.

Lets be honest, who read the rules before they got their first warning points?

So, this is what I'm suggesting:
When a user signs up for MC-Market, a list of things we don't allow will appear on the page, something like this:

Please note, the following items are not approved on MC-Market:
- Items obtained illegally or through "black hat" methods.
- Items you do not have the right to redistribute (i.e. Hypixel Skyblock Coins)
- Items belonging to a banned or suspended member on MC-Market.
- Items containing other users personal information.

Yes, I agree this won't get rid of the people who ignore this and do it anyway, but the innocent who don't know will know better.
Sam.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

A lot of the users who create Hypixel Skyblock threads are the same people on different accounts. (You can see this evidently on the banned members list).

I personally think trying to stick all the rules into a notice when a user joins would do very little and also be far too clunky - and picking and choosing isn't an option really (all are important). There is a notice to users with fewer than 3 posts letting them know that what they can post is limited, so putting the rules there might help if the link isn't there already. According to people down below is a message new members. It's easy to dismiss though, so:

I also think there's the issue of reminding users of the rules every so often. A recurring notice (like Spigot when you enable 2fa - regarding backup codes occasionally) every so often would be a good reminder. Every 3-12 months, potentially?

why not just ban ip people?

Because multiple people can be on the same IPs. What if you’re using a VPN? Or you’re using mobile data? Maybe you went to the same coffee shop as another user? What about whether your ISP has actually assigned you a dynamic IP?

We don’t ban solely on IP matches because there are too many false positives. For example, your account itself has multiple IP matches with many users.

So your argument is for a notice to new users is that they should receive a list of what isn't allowed because no one reads the rules before their warning points?
essentially, yes.

Your argument is they don't read rules before being warned, I am almost confident they receive a link to the rules via a message upon registering, so your solution is to give them a notice with a list of rules to read?
No, just to summarise the important elements. I get that everyone should read the rules but in my opinion, no one really does.

is alot more intimidating than

I get all the rules are important, but it just could be another counter measure.

I feel like this'll only add onto the "got to check this box to finish signing up", similar to how pretty much nobody reads terms of use / service and just checks the box to continue, even for those who're innocent.
You used items in your example, but there are 50 other categories we should include, otherwise it'd be rather weird to only have items in there, which would results in it becoming such a big list, you might as well fall back to /wiki/rules at that point.

Keeping the rules at a single spot for everyone to see (/wiki/rules) still sounds better to me. 1 page to update with every rule there is, clear as day.
As Capaldi said, everyone gets an automatic message which include a direct link to the rules:

Indeed. If you're someone who isn't going to bother reading our rules, then I doubt you'd even read through a summarised list of the important things.

The trigger that caused this suggestion to be made was, as far as I can tell, the amount of users selling Hypixel Skyblock coins when they shouldn't have been. Since this suggestion was made we have added a notice above the Videogame Items forum explaining that Hypixel coins aren't allowed to be sold and have began giving out warning points to people who break that rule. Now the only people who break it are the people who know they're breaking the rules and don't care and continue to do it anyways

I'd really rather try to encourage people to read our rules rather than trying to give them a summary which only contains 1% of the information they need to know.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
