Official MC-Market Discord

People are constantly getting impersonated left and right, most often on Discord. We could make an official MCM discord, a confirmation system could be set up to link a Discord user to an MCM account (giving them a "Verified" tag). If an MCM is ever compromised, the linked Discord user could alert everyone on Discord (including staff) that he has been compromised and not to deal with the MCM profile. If a user ver forgets their login details, instead of having to create an alt (against MCM rules), they can just log into their Discord and ask staff to help them recover. Whenever the site is down (which is happening more and more often) there will still be an area to communicate with MCM users.

(also this has probably been denied in the past but I haven't seen any thread about this recently, so since MCM has been going down quite a bit I might as well bring it back up)

This would:
1. Provide a secondary form of communication in case MCM goes down.
2. Heavily cut down on the amount of impersonators, which make up the majority of scams.
3. Provide an area for compromised users to alert MCM members NOT to deal with their hacked MCM profile.
4. Provide a way for users who have forgotten their login details to recover their account (without needing to create an alt against MCM rules).

Moderation.
Having a discord server would mean another thing to moderate.

Banned members would have to be banned on the discord. Which is another thing to do.
What if their discord isn’t the same name? Yes, it can be edited and such, same problem.

Suspended users would abuse this. If we transfer suspensions, that’s another thing to do.

Actual channel moderation. Is it really worth it to code something that would transfer kicks and such.
Verbally warning someone on the discord would be quiet annoying to record on mcmarket.

We’re understaffed as it is, it’s unnecessary and another thing to moderate.

no one is able to talk just people search for the user in the list and then click on his profile send message and see if thats the user or not

due to people being able to literally identically impersonate someone and people rush through the deal and then get scammed its a way to stop new users from getting scammed and to lower the scam reports on people who did nothing wrong

basically it has many benefits

Great auggestion, the only problem is that I prefer not to give out my discord to people I'm not friends with, this way everyone will have it which I'm not a fan of but there are a lot of pros to it.

You could always choose to just not use the Mc-Market Discord or you could make a business Discord for McM specifically.

I mean the most common sense thing to do would be to hire more staff then? Yes, You would need to moderate the discord but not too much because you can add bots and things to do most of that for you. I see more benefits than negatives for this and only thing i see holding it back is staff...but understaffed has always been a problem on here and now you can clearly see how it affects things. Plus every single person i've dealt with on here just asks you over to discord....

And for people saying "discord will just remove the server" Have you not dealt with discord support? They literally take so long to respond and do nothing, I've seen servers reported with evidence for lets just say underage stuff and that discord server is still up today...So saying discord will get removed isn't a valid point tbh.

Discord could care less about what happens on their servers. You can basically do anything you want and have zero repercussions. There was a Discord for my old high school that actively promoted white supremacy and actively made shooting threats to the school

linking your discord wouldn't make it much safer, because of the way scams are conducted

I can literally help with that, I have over 4 discords for mc market and you have to confirm to verify in all of them, i can be like a discord moderator and invite my friend koko to set the bots up for verifing in mcm, User Crime. and other people already saw how i'm good that so I can help with the discord

Have Discord moderators who report/submit stuff to on-site Moderators?

Theres a bot / addon combo which means you have to link an Xenforo account to your user before you can access the rest of the discord

There are numerous bots which can prevent against this kind of issue which already exist; plus, if someone keeps spamming or whatever you just ban them from the discord. A seperate punishment system.

When someone deletes a message, or changes their Discord ID

UtiliBot is a great example of a bot which changes tag changes and deleted messages, changed roles (pretty much everything)

Its a great idea but players could change their username, and it would take a while to set up and make it work. I think a very high reped player should make a 'unoffical mc-market' discord

You are decently reped and are active. You should prob get some partners to help out though.
