On an old forum I used to browse they had a great weekly newsletter that gave the updates on the site, featured honorable new members, showed off popular threads of the week, bans, and other news on on the forum.

Writing the newsletter there was great fun and users appreciated it. I think it could be a good addition to inform people what's going on around the site. A team of around 5 people would each be assigned a section or two, and the newsletter could be posted in a separate forum.

Thanks for considering.

What kind of forum was this? A link would be nice. :)

I'm planning to be really informative when it comes to announcements regarding site changes.

What would you like to see in the actual news letter?

The site is down now, it was a couple of years ago.

Things I would like to see (but not limited to):
  • Forum changes
  • New staff (or demotions)
  • Notable members
  • Popular threads
  • Bans

I think having an Mc-Market YouTube show would be a better idea than this. It seems like a pointless gesture.

I think it would be an awesome idea making a newsletter more official. It'd get much more attention around the forum, and could probably replace the "Announcements" section, as it would have information on more categories, and be more interesting!

When would you define a thread popular? Does this include sale threads and whatnot? Would be kind of unfair for competition of certain services;

Unnecessary. People can visit the ban page if needed :)
I suppose the bans area would be a bit redundant.

As for popular threads, I would disallow sales threads to be showcased there.

For the most part this won't work out because the usual news on Mc-Market is the same old rehashed drama from the week before. The announcement section of the site practically updates everyone on updates/changes.

It's something for the community to look forward to every week, as well as it being informative and helpful to users.

What would the popular threads be though? Mind stating a few?

I also don't plan on releasing changes daily or weekly.

I don't know about others, but I wouldn't really enjoy reading about the same news every week. I doubt there's enough topics to allow this to last more than a month. Not to mention the news will travel to the users faster than this can be published.

Of course.
An example of a part of this section could be:
"This week, the community had a great time playing x forum game!"

I also understand changes don't happen super frequently, so that section can be left blank on those weeks.

I honestly feel as if these weekly announcements wouldn't really be filled with information. It won't really have content that would interest the userbase.

As for changes, people should realise I can't push out big changes every month. They require hard work and a lot of testing. So one month we could have 3 big updates and next month none :|[DOUBLEPOST=1460280887,1459620242][/DOUBLEPOST]Thread archived, reason for rejection stated above.
