I know a lot of people miss OG Factions.

What would you guys like to see on an OG Factions server?

(I'm also looking for someone who's knowledgable with cannons to decide which ones to disallow)

(Please also list your favourite OG servers and I'll try to fit a bit of nostalgia in everywhere I can , videos from said servers would help out a tonne!)

I miss it, but I don't think the community is willing to go back to wither raiding, hand genning, manual trenching, no TNT bank, no faction fly, physical shop, no /ftop + payouts, the list goes on. True OG Factions will always have a special place in my heart, but I don't think it would be accepted into the community without modern features (Thus not being OG Factions).

If I'm not wrong, this plugin popularized FTOP (Released Mid-2016) https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/...tionsuuid-saberfactions-savagefactions.20661/. There were definitely servers that had their own custom versions (I believe Gontroller was the first), however not every server had it. So for the first 4-ish years (2012-2016) FTOP wasn't used.

Very interesting idea nonetheless, and if it releases I would 100% check it out.

I've played Factions since 2012. I played one server known as LonewolvesPvP from 2012-2017 when it shut down and the youtuber who owned it moved to roblox (lol). Anyways I always enjoyed the grind of OG factions. Spending countless hours a day building a base, pvping to get gear, and hunting around the world for raids. The issue today with having an OG factions server is from what i've seen factions players have gotten pretty lazy. I joined a faction servers advertised as "OG" a few months ago and the season 1 was semi-og I guess, season 2 came around and they added literally every new gen faction feature which made it no OG obviously. For me OG factions was all about the grindy experience and the satisfaction of being the best bc you grinded. Not bc you can 3 second auto through 25 chunks of walls in less than 10 min. There would be massive fights in warzone and players would spend 20+ hours building a base. It also sucks that people only play servers with payouts and not mainly bc they enjoy them. Same with YouTubers - They only play servers they're paid to play on. Even YT'rs with 1k subs are charging for videos which is insane to me. Anyways I will include a list of what OG factions is to me, and what it includes and should exclude.

1. + Wither Raiding - Back in the day no one really knew how to cannon and withers were the main source of raiding. If you want to implement withers effectively you should make cannon rules very strict limiting the vast amount of cannons usable. Since you can't take peoples knowledge on how to cannon and make 255 auto nuke slab bust regen bust whatever... cannons. (I'm not a cannoner)
2. - Gen buckets - Back in the OG faction days gen buckets were not a thing. Players would have to hand place sand walls, hand place obby walls, and gen cobble walls with water and lava buckets. This was obviously a major grind and took hours, but for me it was the most satisfying thing making even 10 walls without gen buckets.
3. - New Gen Features - Features like printer to printer cactus pillars to make loads of money, chunk collectors, spawner stacking, trench pics, sell wands, and other special tools werent a thing. If you wanted to trench you would use a haste 2 beacon and mine each block or use tnt. There are so many new gen features that I don't want to take the effort to list, but for me features that take away the grind and make gameplay too easy arent fun.
4. +/- Custom Enchants - CE's have always been a neutral thing for me depending how much they impact the server. They werent super OG but they've been around awhile. I feel like basic potion enchants that are a bit harder to obtain would be a good way to balance this feature.
5. - FTOP Payouts - I'm very mixed about this, although its obviously amazing to make money from winning a map it hurts the community. From my experience servers that offer payouts typically don't have the most loyal communities. Meaning the people who play for the payouts will dip if they see another server offering more money. Then again it's also hard to get a large server when u don't offer them.
6. Season Length - Now days faction maps typically last 3 weeks max which I hate so much. This is mainly bc people want the payouts asap for each map, and bc of how OP the server economy is. Factions reach 1 bil ftop value within a week of launch. On OG factions you had to grind to even get a few mil on your balance. A good way to have a longer season like OG factions did is to have a planned update schedule rather it be weekly or bi-weekly with a new set of OG Factions updates and news. This will keep the community playing!
7. - Grace period - Grace period is in my opinion BS. Although this is kinda needed for new gen comp faction servers, this shouldn't be a thing in OG servers. Grace period along with Faction Shields which have been widely implemented on new gen servers shouldn't be a feature in an OG style server.

Overall,
It would be amazing to see an OG faction server come back, and without a doubt in my mind there's a community who still plays minecraft that does miss OG styled factions. If you can reach those players and attract other players you could easily build a good community. There is the pretty high chance you'll do a season 1 and pop off them season 2 many might leave bc they only played Season 1 for nostalgia. I would without a doubt play a proper OG factions server and spend countless hours grinding! I want to make og factions.
But I don't believe it's possible in respect to factions nowdays and I don't think just using an old / bad jar and "disabling" tnt mechanics is the proper solution aswell.

I think it's partially on the community; we set rules, we disable a few things, and from there, it's trust. If anybody violates that trust, then they get punished. Lukebix suggested that we place a limit on TNT in a chunk, such as only 50 TNT being ignitable every 10 seconds in a chunk.

So like only 50 tnt can be ignited every 10 seconds in a single chunk.
