Hello, I'm just making this suggestion to bring back the old resource layout, in my opinion, this new one looks so bad, apart from that, I used to look every day all new resources "they could be plugins, builds, setups" to buy them, or just to take a look on them, now you need to be more specific, so it's hard to take a look into all resources..

And again, mcmarket has grown with the old layout, so it means that people liked how it was before, I don't get why they've change that before making a poll or something like that to let all users vote. Anyway, I just left my suggestion here.

Sorry for my bad English, I explained it as best as I could.

Thanks :)

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

The new layout is so bad you can not just browse for multiple things at once you have to go out your way and find something.

Most people like to browse everything and sometimes stuff just sort of jump out at you and end up buying it. This will impact sales IMO.

Most of my hours on this site was clicking the resource TAB then browsing everything thats where I use to spend most of my time.

I hope the staff listen to some of their top authors in this matter.

They can make this new design better.
The idea it's nice because you don't have to update your resources every day to appear on the first page.

It is true, I understand that the changes will eventually be given, and will have to adapt, as it has been for example in the case of YouTube, however, this current design that they decided to implement in MCM does not like most, and not I think it is only because of being accustomed to the previous one, but because of the impracticality that it can result.

Can someone fill me in on why this update 'sucks' instead of jumping on the bandwagon? I'm not in love with the new design but I consider it okay and more of a modernization of the existing format. I hate to point out the obvious but larger images are 'modern' while lots of text is out. The best example of this that pops into my mind is how youtube has been experimenting for months with larger thumbnails. Sort of like (early) floatplane if anyone uses that.

Edit: I mean actually clarify what you don't like so Mick can till his new developer what to change. Saying "you don't' like it" is the equivalent of telling me "it doesn't work" when providing a service - you're not saying what doesn't work.

It's simple, people don't like the new design, maybe because the old design was simpler and easier to use for new customers, or whatever. Just look at the disagree reactions on the new post Posted by Mick of this resource category update.

I appreciate the effort of Mick trying to update resources categories to make it better, but in my opinion, this update will make hard for new customers to search for new products.

Very good point, however there is a critical mistake that has been overlooked in all of this.

I like to call this “Impulsive browsing”. Sometimes, I like to just go through the resource section. Whether it is on SpigotMC or on here, I always seek modern ideas which could catch my eye.

The issue with this new homepage is that it completely flips to concept. Instead of scrolling through many different resources which are very different to one another, you are asked to select a category which, from my lazy point of view, will discourage that behavior as no one really likes to just browse certain types of products. The difference between individuals who browse bigger retailer stores to niche stores is important. Same concept applies here.

So, by applying such format, you are basically killing that fun thing to do. Essentially, knowing my customers of JI, I’d say you are killing approximately 25% of all sales. JI has a lot of success mostly due to browsing. 50% comes from referrals, 25% from searches/sticky thread/advertising and the rest purely from browsing.

So now that rough numbers have been shown, I hope I have transmitted my point of view in the clearest of all ways.

Oh, I'm glad it's not just me that randomly strolls through pages of spigot. I think I went though all of Spigot and Bukkit twice way back in 2015-2016. Staff have linked 'all resources' somewhere but I can't be bothered to find it ever time I want to look at resources either. Someone - me on another thread - recently suggested an 'All resources' tab to fill the empty space which would pretty much bring this back.

We did end up reverting to the old resource layout in the end. Rip the money I spent getting that custom developed feelsbadman.

I'll move this to accepted, thank you to everyone for your input on this.
