Here's my opinion:

Sales Representatives are an annoyance most of the time. I have joined enough discords and made ticket channels, waiting for a sales representative to reply or properly update me with whats going on with my commission or rather potential commission.

I get that some teams don't have enough members who can take large commissions that are complex and out of their skill level, but hey, that's your fault for not hiring enough freelancers.

Sales Representatives have nothing to do if the team doesn't even have the right/enough freelancers to take commissions. Anyways, there have been more times where a Sales Representative is more annoying then helpful. I've seen sales reps fight over who gets to "moderate the commission". I've seen a sales rep who has to try so many times to find the right freelancer for the job to the client's (namely my) needs.

I as a customer would prefer an automated way to have freelancers take on commissions that they can handle & can give an appropriate price range with a first come first serve sort of system.

How about all of you?

I totally understand how sales representatives can be somewhat "annoying" but sometimes it may just be the amount of commission that a team has is filled up. Some sales reps are just trying to make some money just as the freelancer to make money and also on the automated system expect big things in 2018 :).

The problem with Sales Reps is that they take like a whopping 10% or sometimes down to 5%. The thing is, management takes credit for bringing clients to freelancers so there goes another 3% or 5%. The freelancer can't charge the prices they normally would charge if they were solo...

In my mind, I would support freelancers in that we should cut sales representatives out of the loop and minimize the amount of money the freelancer's commission being cut/going to management.

It is not hard to be a sales rep. Nothing to learn for it, in general, it is spam to get money.

Hence the reason why I stress the word "generally". More often than not, Sales Reps have been aggressive & overall a waste of time in my experience as a customer of service teams. I'm thinking of a way to take out sales representatives from the process so I'm just using this thread to get a feel for how the rest of the market feels.

Difficult to find, and often even if the sales rep is professional or "good", these companies don't have enough freelancers hired to take in an influx of scouted potential commissions by Sales Reps.

Replying seriously even though you have a Kappa emoji for anyone who doesn't understand this concept XD

I would say that if you want to hire sales representatives it's all about there moral if there kind and not greedy, or just if they care about the customer not about there own well being.

I've worked as a Sales Representative before and it's insanely hard to find customers who can qualify in the following:
  • Have a sufficient budget
  • Be patient for me to find the right freelancer because my team apparently doesn't have freelancers on demand
  • Has a detailed vision for what they want to pay for
I used to spam post with template copy pastes but then I resorted to PMs. PMs are at least more private & less embarrassing than slapping your template onto a public thread and waste the customer's time.

A system to cut the middleman sales rep out is what I'd love to see. How is everyone's opinion on this?

The main ones I find annoying are the ones that go from thread to thread posting a near identical message without even reading what the buyer actually wants and checking if their team is capible of doing it.

Especially the ones that post even though the thread says in bold "NO SERVICE TEAMS", those are the funniest.

This is why I offer 90-100% to my freelancers on commissions. Sales reps are given 5% in my team and if it's a small total, I won't even take a cut for the team. I'm not making money off of Artsy, anyway. All money so far has gone to paying for things for the team. I realize that most teams don't do this and that the owner makes money but idk. I think that can be done without taking 20% off of the freelancer.
If there was a way to rid sales reps, would you use this way? o_O

If you want to see how sales reps should work check GabbyLorelai and her team. I made a ticket and they weren't just like let me get you a freelancer.. he encouraged me to talk about the project and we had a pretty nice chat with some laughs. That is how a rep should be for a company (Artsy is the team name)

Unfortunately poor service team management has lead to a break down in the system that has lead to this spam that many take an issue with.

Back in July or 2017, when the service team was in it's infancy, posting your copy paste was very common practice that many generally regarded as acceptable. The service team was such a new concept that many were more intrigued than annoyed. However, as time went on and teams like Minecript sprung up and switched to much more aggressive strategies, the market both begun to universally understand what a service team did, and how these service teams marketed themselves became a point of contention.

The current issue is that many service teams value the exposure they gain by publicly posting their information on public threads over the more private and professional nature of a private conversation. Alas, new service teams will always resort to this practice as it is most effective for their needs on a scale where they can appeal to many.

Time moved forward and as this market became more and more saturated with service teams and the idea of it spread into the common conscious, the way teams used to function is no longer a commonly respected practice. What does this mean for the future? The marketing of professional service teams will adapt to the change in market preferences. Avast Team and Prime. already have policies of "No Posts of Threads" meaning all of our requests are handled in Private DM conversations. Though unfortunately, the practice will not go away unless MC-Market staff decide to overstep. The intensive for the smaller, weaker teams is too great to stop the practice.

I hope this clears up any confusion.
