I don't intend this to sound like a marketing thread, but it will sound like it anyway. Forgive me.

Anyways, over the operation of my company in the past year, we've received quite a lot of traction of people looking for reselling services, but not web reseller. The conversation usually goes

"Hey! I saw you had reselling, what is able to be resold?"

"Hi, our reseller hosting is for web hosting"

"Oh, I thought it was VPS. Thanks."

Point is, we've seen that people are interested in VPS reselling services, specifically the smaller and starting out hosts. The only VPS reselling that exists at the moment is from hosts that will offer you discounts if you have a large volume of VPS's, or it is programs that require you to fill out a very strict application to gain entry. There seems to be no "general purpose" and easy to use reselling for VPS's as prevalent as it is for web hosting.

We've noticed this gap in the market as a company, and it would not be that difficult for us to operate new servers or enable this functionality on our preexisting ones for this purpose.

There would be a WHMCS module for white-label functionality. Plans would probably be set up with specific resource limits and a fixed monthly price, such as 10GB RAM, 200GB storage, 10 vCores, etc. You would be able to create as many VPS's as you want, until you reach those limits across all VPS's.

We're now reaching out and seeing if anybody would be interested in this functionality, and we'd love to hear feedback.

this is your key point...

if you believe you are receiving considerably high demand for it, offer it. it's a service that gives you leverage over other competitors. personally, this is a new idea to me and I'd be interested in taking a look at the final product (pricing/accessibility). give it a shot and glws!

I think one of the reasons people don't offer VPS reselling as much as web reselling is just the option for abuse is much higher on VPS. In the past month I have had to terminate 10+ VPS for mass mail spam, port scanning, etc and we don't even really touch the low end market. I think abuse is one of the reasons reselling VPS's are at a higher barrier for entry.

We already deal with a lot of abuse on our current VPS plans, and we deal alright with it. Haven't really thought too much into that side of it, but it should be taken into account.

At the end of the day, just really matters what service provider you're reselling (some don't allow you to re-sell and others do).
We have our own hardware - we're not reselling VPS hosting from another provider.

I've had people accuse me of reselling vps's as well.. seems like no one thinks that if you have the money to form a company then you're automatically broke and can't own your own hardware as well, lol.

For your main topic, this is something that I've put a lot of thought into, but I could never see myself going through with it because of the abuse risk of someone else on top of having to deal with your own abuse for direct customers. I would love to see someone implement this without making buyers fear over a large over head. If you pull this off, it will be cool to see and I will definitely check out what you guys have acomplished.

Of course, and I thank you for your feedback. It’s really helpful. I’m noting what we would and wouldn’t do so people do not get incorrect impressions.
