That's your best bet for getting a good one. Kylew v2 has a nice optimized config out there, but just because you change values, doesn't mean your server can hold 300 players. That will all be dependent on your ram and processor.
My dedi has 64gb of ram and a i7 7700k
64GB should be fine for 300 players. Optimizations can help with keeping your TPS up, but like I said,
having a non optimized vs an optimised won't really affect how many players can be on.
We generate a lot of chunks and that causes the server to lag. We just need it to help keep the tps up.
Yes. Speed of ram and processor matters, However for a server you wont ever need to dedicate more than 8gb and it also relys on the efficiency of your plugins and/or spigot.
So with 3,000 players, 8GB will suffice?
adding more ram isnt going to do anything ...
