Please could you specify what is allowed and what is not allowed to be advertised within the shoutbox.

Just as someone (not specifying who) is advertising youtube videos. Then staff saying they're allowed and then someone getting warned for advertising a Discord link.

3.1 Do not attempt to promote any servers or external websites in shoutbox unless via an MC-Market thread link.

3.1.1 Do not advertise any external websites which are not portfolio/team sites for services currently offered on MC-Market.

Yet last time I checked Youtube as well as Discord are external websites and aren't associated with MC-Market

Please note that this modification is mainly to specify what is allowed to be advertised.
Such as Youtube, Screenshots or Referencing images that don't currently violate any other rules.

If you want super specifics...

(such as advertising competitors, external service/business platforms or ad-links)

The rule already does specify.
Severs or external websites
3.1.1 then provides an exception for team/portfolio sites for products/services offered on MCM.

A Youtube channel is not a server or a website.
When you attempt to advertise your channel, you are advertising content on the website, not the website itself.

When you attempt to advertise a discord server, it is the server you are advertising, which is why it violates 3.1, which specifies that you cannot advertise servers.

Unrelated to your suggestion, but we do forbid the advertisement of content which resides behind a registration wall, since advertising the content would then require a registration, and thus also be advertising the website.
This could be more clear in its own sub-rule, so I’ve written that down for us to add in our next update.

Yes indeed. And in our most recent announcement rule 3.1.2 has been added to clarify your last point about requiring registration to view content.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
