I guess this question goes for anyone that's got disputed on and been charged the $20 fee they charge.

I sell plugins on Spigot some dude purchased a $3 one, disputed through his CC I believe and eventually I lost and a $20 fee was charged from a $3 plugin.

Is it possible to reverse this fee? Even worth trying?

No idea. My suggestion is always to call them and ask for more details, and if there is any way.
From my personal experience it's best to call them 2 or 3 times about the same matter, because the answers don't always match up.

I'm going to call them today, I just think it's stupid how the fee can't vary, because a $20 fee for a $3 dispute is just stupid.

You should have seller protection. Have you given your end of the dispute?

I've gone through this with someone who accidentally chose to charge back
(I won the dispute and kept the money, also contacted him asking if everything was okay. He did it because my business name changed and he had no clue what it was)

Anyways, you can call them and have them take the $20 fee of and explain the situation.

The $20 fee is because when a dispute is made and paypal has to take care of it, the employees there still have to be paid. The $20 is given amongst the people having to stop what they are doing, or to take the case. So it's not outrageous it's a fee that is applied to the seller of every dispute on PayPal. It's only to pay the employees to handle the issue and keep the service free and working for anyone to use.

PayPal also said this in the email.

"One of your buyers opened a case for this transaction. This means the buyer has asked their financial institution to reverse the money for this transaction.

We want to help you, and we are disputing this case with your buyer's financial institution."

Sadly I doubt this will cover the fee even if they decide in my favor.

I agree. I've never had anyone charge me back successfully, so I've never dealt with it, but I definitely agree.
Well, the person who charged back on me did 2 transactions that were exactly the same. I won one of them and lost the other. I then called paypal and they removed the $20 fee from my account, then looked into the case because if I won one then I shouldn't lose the other. They fixed it and gave me all my money back. So disputing with the operator of the call works greatly too.[DOUBLEPOST=1479391391][/DOUBLEPOST]

The fee isn't for their bank or method of payment through PayPal. The fee goes to PayPal directly. Banks can't charge you a bee for a charge back through another payment gateway.

I still think a $20 fee for a payment that's less than $20 is a bit overboard. If they charged a $10 fee for a $3 payment, sure. but $20?

The only time they've charged a fee is when someone disputes with there bank or credit card company. Not every dispute.

You shouldn't have fought it, just let them win if it's just $3

I just ignore it till I lose, call them, then get a $20 refund. Works for me every time.

What do you normally say?[DOUBLEPOST=1479415154][/DOUBLEPOST]If this ever happens to you, just call them, they reversed the fee without a hassle.
