I dont think you need a 1080. Bit overkill IMO, same with the processor. I have a GTX 970 msi, I run 300-1500 (fluctuates) while recording. And with the processor, I still think yours there is an overkill. Yet again, I dont know your budget but I find your parts a bit overkill.

That is a very nice build. I would recommend going for 512 gb SSD though and knocking down to the i5 or the GTX 1060 in order to stay at price point.

6700k is overkill for gaming tbh, 6600k is the max that you'd need, even with multi 4k monitors n stuff.

Get a 7700k just because you can.

Go for a 1060-1070.

Switch out for a 512 ssd.

Get a liquid cooler (if you go I5 you can overclock better).

My budget is around 1500$ give or take a hundred dollars.

We can talk in PM's, but I DO NOT want to overclock. I want my computer to last as long as possible. Having the extra processing power (i7) won't be bad, but I don't want to overpay for things I could care less about. It's going to be a strictly gaming-related build.

@sarenae a 1080 is overkill, as is a 6700k. 6600 would suit you fine, as would a 1060 or 1070

A small question before sharing my professional opinion. You mentioned that this system has the primary function for gaming and a secondary function to edit videos and recording. Can you list the games you are going to play/planning on playing? Because anyone can recommend specific components based off of their own opinion and experience. However, this isn't their system. But yours. If you answer the question provided then I can better asses what components are suitable for your needs.

I'm mostly going to be playing Rust, ARK, Arma 3, DOOM, etc. Mostly new AAA titles.
